Vetters Dunkles Hefeweizen

Draught at the brewpub. Mild banana aroma. Cloudy amber brown colour. Semi-stable tan head. The flavour has a little banana, turning citric after a while. Not so flavourful or interesting.

(1L bottle from brauhaus) Cloudy amber body with a thick off white head. Much much more yeasty than any other dunkelweizen I’ve ever had. The yeast flavor kind of reminds me of a belgian beer so this weizen is different. Smell is big yeast with some banana and clove. Taste is the same with good wheat notes. Enjoyable but not typical in my opinion.

Swing-top bottle from brewery. Ripe banana, clove, and caramel malt aroma. Cloudy dark brown color with moderate head. Bland wheat malt flavor - light banana notes but no dark malt flavors. Not much flavor with this one.

Dark brown colored with hazy appearance. Little yellow head. Grainy aroma with banana and some yeast. Thin to medium bodied, watery palate. Flavor is more grainy and mildly chocolaty, still rather thin one. Aftertaste dries with slight banana still. Bland one.

Medium yellowish beige lasting head. Muddy brown body. Sugary wheaty aroma, very mild. Light mild faintly bananaish papery taste with spicy, herbal notes. Watery, chalky mouthfeel. Light, easy-drinking, boring. No aftertaste, either. Peppery milky taste lingers. (0.3l draft at brewpub.)

Had this on 06-07-07 on draft at Vetters in Heidelberg from a liter mug. Cloudy brown pour with a 2 finger foamy tan head. Smells of Wheat, chocolate and citrus. Citrus, wheat, chocolate, banana, and a little grass to taste initially. Much the same on the aftertaste. Great creamy full palate and nice light carbonation. Enjoyed with some boiled Bavarian sausages. Easily the best dunkelweizen I’ve had.

A fairly standard depiction of the style. Not much new ground to cover here. Cloves and banana. Cloudy. Not very hearty. Drinking it at Vetters adds some style points to the overall.

Cloudy dark amber color; big head. Typical aroma, wheat, cloves. Light body, some malt and caramel, some spices, the wheat. Very light sourness (it’s the end of the keg, no more fresh enough).
