Sweet malty aroma with notes of plums and caramel. Sweet and malty flavor with overripe plums and caramel. Somewhat oxydized but otherwise ages very good. johninmelb (695), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 27, 2005 Nose has a strong, hoppy character. Colour is pale amber. Flavour is well-formed but a bit uninspired (perhaps signifying the macro origin). Nevertheless a pleasant tributary ale. lasonovich (151), Australia

So much more taste, bitterness and generally a bucketload better than the average VB. Strong slightly hoppy flavour but needs to be served ice cold. If it gets even a little warm the flavour goes and it becomes a flat bland beer. SledgeJr (3000), Omaha, Nebraska, USA

Pours a light amber with a medium ivory head that leaves trabeculae of lacing of such an interesting design. The aroma is roasted and malty. The flavor has an up-front malty palate that is followed by a bolus of toasted caramel. Really good taste to this one. has a fairly nice level of blended bitterness. My bottle’s production date was "19 Jul 06", so I would imagine that the bottle was fairly fresh. Could shipping age be a problem with so many dissatisfied reviews? Regardless, my rating really rocks the boat here. voota (765), Melbourne, Australia
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Sep 28, 2005 Didn’t really know what to expect from this, possibly an improved or premium VB,. what I found was more a new product all together. Pours a nice clear copper, with a small white head. Aroma is clean and a little hoppy. The palate is simple but solid, with some basic malts and some POR in there too. I actually enjoyed drinking this (as opposed to most CUB beers), and would put it not too far off coopers pale in terms of drinkability.

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 22, 2005 This is more malty and far less gassy than the current VB ( or vomitous brew) as I am want to call it.
I had heard of it being about but I didn’t get to try it for months before it came to Wagga.
A pale imitation of what an ale should be and it is not bitter, though I think CUB may have found some real hops and barley for this one. Too expensive for what it is, but far superior to the green bile can that is so, so popular for whatever reason. adrock (16), Shepparton, Australia
