Commercial Description:
Victoria Bitter has been Australia's favorite full strength beer brand for many years. VB, as it is widely known, was launched in the 1890s and since then has developed a reputation as a great beer with a tradition of rewarding Australians who work and play hard.

Tap -- Judging VB by the same standards as the other more august beers on this site seems a little unkind -- a bit like comparing a Beethoven symphony to a top 40 song and deciding the top 40 song is rubbish because it doesn’t have the complexity of a symphony. It’s really a case of comparing apples to oranges. Victoria Bitter is what it is: a mass-produced lager with a simple, pleasant flavour that really quenches your thirst. Since that’s what most beer drinkers are looking for, and since VB does its job very well, it’s extremely popular.

Bottle. Poors a very faint golden head. Quite present carbonation. the taste is of corn and boiled vegetables accompanied by a strong, unpleasant presence of vomit and gone off cheese. Very thin body. The only thing I like about this beer is its bottle shape. I really prefer Castlemaine XXXX over this one!

Bottled. Pale golden colour, little foam. Soyrish malty flavour, little bitterness, short aftertaste. Not much interesting.

I like the bottle shape on this one. It’s just different in an old world kind of way. It pours a very clear golden colour with a bit of foam on top that is very loose and doesn’t stay. The aroma is faint and of some grains or grass. The body is very thin and the flavour is very reminiscent of the grains and of basic macro swill with a slightly better ede of hops that quickly fades.

Bottle. Yeah, not at all as bad as I’d expected. But I’ll never drink it again.

375ml can, thanks to a friend. Pours golden colour with initial foam which dies quickly. Aroma is pleasant,, hops maybe? Tastes very smooth with bitterness creaping up at the end. Not bad.

This beer really is very bitter on the palate. There is nothing good about this beer. It is rubbish, yet is Australia’s top selling domestic beer. Don’t bother trying it.
