Offensively metallic nose with a waft of fruit. Quite a tastily rounded balance of bready malt and very abrupt, sharply yeasty dryness unusual in either a lager or bitter. A firm, not unpleasantly metallic bitterness. Is it meant to taste like this? Borup (1359), Albertslund, Denmark

In the stubbie bottle at Ippon Sushi bar in Chinatown. Pours a rich gold color with a big poofy white head. I soon learned that this was the normative appearance of Australian beer. Has a strong lager yeast aroma. This is a mild beer with medium carbonation. I’m not sure why this is called a "bitter" as it is a fairly non-descript pale lager. Great at quenching wasabi. Leaves a mild residual hop bitterness on an otherwise forgetful palate. This is the ubiquitous beer (along with Tooheys New) in New South Wales. Glouglouburp (2877), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Drank on 7/3/06 in the bottle at The Delerium Cafe in Brussels. I thought why not try the supposedly real macro of Australia if I had the chance. Its a light drinkable beer with not much there. Glad I tried it, but I won’t seek out again any time soon. thebeertourist (2822), Oslo, Norway
| 1.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 1/10 | 3/5 | 4/20 | Aug 26, 2006 Bottle. Clear, deep golden with a rather small head. Strange aroma, somewhat herbal. Flavours are sweet and herbal also, worse than the aroma. Even the local Ringnes lager is better. Down the drain - hope it does not pollute- not worth the calories. Shame on the Systembolaget for stocking this as beer. pmannion (12), New Windsor, New York, USA
