Tap at The Diamond: Nothing about this is like a Dubbel. Pours a deep golden with a dense off-white head. The aroma has some mild herbal notes with hints of bread-crust, honey and Belgian esters. The mouthfeel has dense carbonation with some spicy phenols in the flavor. Herbal hints as well, with a touch of bubblegum, but not too sweet. The finish has a moderately spicy bitterness. Not bad, but not a Dubbel.

Draft at the Blind Tiger. Copper / orange pour with some white head. Aroma is sweet malt and brown sugar. Flavor is the same, a little bubblegummy with some earthy spicing in the back. It just didn’t come together for me, and the sugary malts just didn’t taste good.

Draft @ Max’s. Pours a clear, bold honey-copper color; very light tan head with fine-bubbled lacing. Honey, Belgian sugar, brown sugar, and some fruitiness in the aroma; quite pleasant, dry dubbel character. Medium mouthfeel: Belgian sugar, yeast, cola, and honey upfront; chewy, cola-dominated dubbel; solid, drinkable interpretation. Medium mouthfeel: Belgian sugar, toasty malts, and breadiness in the finish; ends dry.

Clear amber/golden body with a small off-white head, fading. The nose is sweet and fruity with toffee, caramel, banana, clove and raisins. The flavor is lightly/moderately sweet with a light bitterness and bananas, pear, prune, clove and coriander. Medium body is soft with moderate, tight carbonation.

4/20/2008: Victory Abbey 6 is an very average, uninspiring, and disappointing beer. The ruby honey color and medium-body are okay, but the aroma and flavor are mediocre at best for an Abbey Dubbel. I was unable to really pick out anything except some bubblegum, generic Belgian fruitiness (berry-like), light Belgian spiciness, and the usual doughy/yeastiness. It is a bit sweet and lacks body, althought it has a slightly syrupy texture on the palate. I suppose this beer was worth trying once, but it really wasn’t work the money and doesn’t really deliver what I was hoping for or expect in a Dubbel...

Pint (draught) at The Publick House in Brookline, MA. Rating #29 for this beer...

On tap at Fathead’s. Cloudy fold with a thin white head. Mineral, bubblegum, cotton candy aroma, with bread, clove, and honey notes. Super sweet, slightly acidic taste. Bready, spicy and sweet. Full, creamy mouthfeel.

Draft->shaker (tasting@brewery): Pours a really average, not much head, lacing, or carbo atop of a clear amber (or light brown body). Some cookie, citrus(lemon), and perhaps dough aromas with light yeast in there as well. The body is medium and the texture is creamy. The brew as a whole is slightly spicy and a very slight spiciness. Not one of my favorite Victory beers by far and, IMO, sub-par from what I’m used to from them.

Draught: Sweet aroma. Smells of honey, mead, yeast, fruit, and berries. Poured amber in color with a medium-sized white head that diminished slowly. Lightly hazy. Very sparkling. Sweet flavor. Tastes of spices, cinnamon, coriander, syrup, and yeast. Medium body. Dry texture. Average to lively carbonation. Dry finish.
