Draft at Capone’s. Medium coppery dark strawish pour with off-white head. The nose has a lot of funky yeast notes, plus spicy floral hops, citrus, peach, and some berry notes. Tastes malty, funky, spicy, with mid-palate hopcitrus and floral spicy notes, and a medium palate. This one tastes pretty Belgian, and is a great example of this style. This one surprised me.

Yummm! It’s true, this beer is not like a Dubbel... it is like a Tripel, but with less alcohol! Golden with light-moderate carbonation and a fruity, syrupy flavor. It’s like Maredsous 10 Lite...

Hazy reddish brown color with a medium sized, light an head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of orange peel, passion fruit, toffee malts, citrus fruits, bread, dark fruits, and yeast as well. Taste of more citrus, raisins, light caramel, toffee, with nuts as well.

On tap at brewpub: Comes off the tap a medium brownish red in a tulip glass. Aroma is dry and fruity, with a decent amount of hops showing through the aroma which is very uncharacteristic for a belgian dubbel. flavor was quite hoppy as well mostly earthy, but with a big malt backbone, and a lot of fruity and spicy belgian yeast notes. palate was medium. Quite a nice brew, I quite enjoyed the extra bit of hops in a belgian style that doesn’t usually have it. A well done change of pace.

On tap at the Blue Nile in Minneapolis. Hazy copper color with a thin layer of white head. Malty nose with faint apricot and hops. Thick dry malt body with faint citrus in the delicious hop midpalate. Some spice on the finish.

IHWC, BCTWC event 10 oz goblet. Pours a very light coppery gold with a thin lasting almost white sticky head. Aroma is fresh bread and doughy pils and vienna toasted malts, with a nice subdued spiciness form the belgian yeast- skewed to phenolic side- hints of clove, and restrained fruity esters- light apple. More restrained yeast character with a touch of spicy and floral hops, ok phenolic kick, and lots of great lightly toasted and fresh bread malts with a touch of cookie dough as it warms. Finish is very crisp with a lingering hop bitterness.

On tap at HDG. Amber and orange in color with a nice fluffy white head that left a nice lacing on the glass. Hoppy malty aroma. Orangey and spicey hops. Malty and bready flavor. Citrusy hops and yeasty notes. Nicely balanced beer. Finish is malty and bready. Medium bodied. Nice beer. Very drinkable.

Tap at Hop Devil - reddish gold tint with a very fizzy body and large head - fairly spicy aroma, with notes of light, summery fruits and a delicate bready/yeastiness - light-bodied, but not thin - grassy, herbal, and fairly spicy - flavors of orange zest and other citrusy notes - a tiny bit earthy - reminds me more of a saison than a dubbel, but quite tasty either way.
