daniellerose7 (119), new york, New York, USA May 21, 2008 Yummm! It’s true, this beer is not like a Dubbel... it is like a Tripel, but with less alcohol! Golden with light-moderate carbonation and a fruity, syrupy flavor. It’s like Maredsous 10 Lite...
hopdog (4657), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 13, 2008 On tap at Victory. Poured a deeper and clear golden / orange color with a smaller sized head. Aromas of yeast, fruity, and light spices. Tastes of fruitiness, lighter spices, and some grains. Nice and drikable. Glouglouburp (2014), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Sep 2, 2008 In short: A Belgian ale with an unusual mix of fruity flavours. Far from a classic Dubbel but enjoyable
How: Tap at Blind Tiger Ale House NYC
The look: Murky dark-orange body with almost no head
In long: Some fruity caramel on the nose. The malt foundation is grainy toasted bread crust with a sesame bread sensation. Then a mountain of fruity flavours, the beer is very fruity. Ground cherries, bananas, apricots, Granny Smith apples, pineapples, more… Something about the mix bag of fruity flavours was strange, not unpleasant but just strange. Dry dusty yeast sensation with bubblegum notes. Tasty leafy hops that struggle to find their niche in this busy beer. The beer is highly drinkable and I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. However if Victory were aiming at a traditional dubbel (Westmalle, Lost and Found, etc.) then they missed the target like a cross-eyed archer with a bad hiccup.
joeymacaroni (144), West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 26, 2008 pourshazy golden orange with a thick, quickly dissipating white head. aromas of spice, bubblegum, strawberry, raspberry, and peach. minimal lacing. flavor is spicy, heavy clove, light fruit, pleasant but not too apparent maltiness. lots of lemony goodness. lingering malty, sweet, spicy, citrusy aftertaste. bu11zeye (3782), Frisco, Texas, USA Aug 25, 2008 (Draught) Pours a lightly hazy orange body with a small off-white head. Aroma of orange peel, peach, banana, and light herbal notes. Poured a amber/brown color with a decent off white head. Belgian yeast aroma with some fruit as well. Flavor was mainly chewy bready grain adn the finish was a little sweet. Pretty refreshing and easy to drink.
