| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 18, 2003 Hazy banana; unfiltered; thin whisp of white foam. Restrained, and surprisingluy estery aroma of toasted banana bread, white grape, straw, sour apples, toasted bread, coconut, earth, and yeast. Soft, velvety carbonation. Firm. Full, fruity flavors start perfumey, before moving to estery fruitiness, tropical undertones, and a long pale bready, straw-like finish. Overall, lacking in cleanliness. More malt depth would have been appreciated.

(gonna go with jsquires rating for now, just had an orval and am afriad I am biased--well except for the 16 in overall, can't do that the lemon note is now raisin) jsquire (2113), St. Marys, Ohio, USA

Why anyone ever lets a drop of Heiniken touch their lips when this stuff is around is utterly perplexing... oh, the power of advertising! Fast pour yeilds a huge, white, fluffy head; malty almost nutty flavor; hops impart a nice nippiness in the finish. Oh the finish (I can't believe that I'm ranting so about a stock lager!)... like a gently, comfy blanket. dberger624 (1028), Phila, Pennsylvania, USA

Virtually indistinguishable from any
native Dortmunder style lager. A superb
accomplishment from the guys at Victory.
Very well balanced - creating a complexity
that keeps the beer interesting til the last sip. Plenty of body.
