TeamTrappist (366), jericho, New York, USA Jul 6, 2009 Tap at The Blind Tiger. Poured a dark thinnish black. Nose was big coffee, chocolate, and burnt malts. You would figure this to be a big mouthful, but it is definitely on the thin side. Flavors are not thin though, they are big and pronounced.Very nice coffee bitter finish. argo0 (6861), Washington DC, USA Mar 22, 2009 (draft) Medium beige head atop clear dark brown body. Aroma is mild, medium sweet, roast, some chocolate/caramel, coffee. Taste is medium sweet, roast, coffee, some chocolate, light spice. Fair amount of coffee bitterness. Nice soft chocolate and cocoa up front. There is a nice herbal/spicy character that reminds me a bit of root beer. Heavy cocoa and a toasty/roasty character. There is a soft herbal hoppiness that accents the roastiness. A pretty prominent fruity aroma/flavour that works for me. It’s a pretty nice beer although it might be a little sweet. Nice complexity though. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA Dec 29, 2008 Draft at EVT. A perfect looking beer with a two finger head and nice clarity. Smells like a cocoa milkshake. Flavor is nicely toasty and nutty with a nice hop bite. A really tasty beer with a slight milkyness to it. Plenty bitter too. JB175 (1654), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 30, 2008 Brown in color with a bit of chocolate and roast in the nose. Flavor is roasty, chocolatey, and has a bit of coffee with some sweetness. Best new Victory beer in awhile. Goodgrief (1144), Middletown, Delaware, USA Nov 27, 2008 Sampled at the brewpub. This one was good…a lot going on here. Rich flavor of chocolate, roasted coffee beans and a noticeable fruitiness which complimented the typical porter flavors quite well. Both hugely sweet and hugely roasty. Good stuff.
