Commercial Description:
A richly colored ale of character... Mildly aromatic with the richness of dark, German malts to support the dryish English hops, this brown ale has both substance and character. You'll find the subtle flavor of dark, baker's chocolate, with it's cocoa, nut-like taste, in this complex, but mellow ale. COMPOSITION Malts: 4 types of imported German malts Hops: British East Kent & Styrian Goldings hops Alcohol by Vol. 5.4% Draft only for March 2005

The brown ales are my favorite beer type, so maybe I’m overly harsh. It wasn’t a bad beer, smallish head but nice lacing, nice appearance...but lacked a little in the taste department. I definitely didn’t detect much of the "nutty or caramel" taste that others have noted. Good, but unremarkable. The other 3 people in my party really liked it alot, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Somehow got this one from a keg behind an abbandoned train station in detroit...that aside, a very nice beer. Nice tan head and firm peak, with a bronze pour, and nutty aroma with your usualy hints of sweets. Tastes a little malty with some nutty hints and slite bitter aftertaste.

Poured a typical brown-orange color with a normal head and with a touch of lacing (although, nothing impressive there). The flavor was only mildly nutty and was dominated by a caramel type malt. The hops were too strong for this style. The mouthfeel was properly carbonated and medium bodied. Would have another, but there are better brown ales out there. Also had the "cask" version and that one was much more out of character for the style. Served at a warmer temperature and with more carbonation, the hops were much imbalanced with the malts, which isn’t my idea of a brown ale (more like an amber ale on cask).

(draft) Beige head atop a clear dark red-brown body. Aroma is medium sweet, chocolate, caramel, cherry. Taste is medium sweet, cherry, light raspberry, caramel earthy, chocolate, faint sourness. Some roasty in the finish. Smooth light-medium body.

Draught sample at Victory. Has grassy-grainy sweet hay aroma, mild raw nuts with dry floral hops. Decent malt aroma with good bittering. Worty with bread dough. Light brown-amber clear with thin off-white slightly lacind head. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Starts with doughy bread, raisins and sweet, sour tang. Not much sweetness overall. Mild acidity throughout with nutty dry bitterness. Floral hops in finish. Ascerbic nutty after.

Very good brown ale. A little on the sweet side with hints of chocolate, carmel and nut. Had this on tap at Victory.

A dark copper apperance with little head. The aroma was mainly caramel. The flavor was very nutty with some caramel and chocolate notes. The palate was a bit thin but it wasnt too bad for a brown ale.
