Slightly opaque golden color topped by a fairly active head that dissipates a bit quickly. Aroma is of bready malt with a faint touch of hay. Flavor is typical for the style, perhaps just a bit too sweet. The hops do appear more fully on the back of the tongue. Mouthfeel seems a little thin to me, but I’ve already been drinking winter seasonals this year! This is a pretty good O-fest, but I’ll stick with the German brewers for the best. carl4beer (403), Fairfax Station, Virginia, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Sep 27, 2009 Pours a clear golden amber, light copper color with golden orange hues when held to a light source and a one finger off white head that quickly fades into a lasting ring that leaves sporadic thin rings of lacing throughout.
Sweet malty aroma with hints of brown sugar, cinnamon and subtle hops. There is also a very faint roasted malt presence that is very promising.
Surprisingly very full bodied and chewy, especially for the style with a lot of sweet malt and fall spices. Hints of cinnamon, brown sugar, biscuit, and that slight toasted malt flavor that the aroma alluded to. There is also a very subtle hop presence which provided an excellent balance of bitterness to the sweet malts and spice notes. An excellent example of an American interpretation of the style but I can’t really see to many Germans liking it. Either way I highly recommend it. Pookie9121 (87), Columbia, South Carolina, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 26, 2009 Medium-bodied an d very drinkable, with light notes that give way to caramel malt and baked biscuits, hints of brown sugar, smooth and lightly hopped. Not a blockbuster but easy-drinking, great for football and pulled pork in the early fall.
