A lot of yeasty banana. Quite in-your-face apricot and brandy aromas.
Heavy booze with syrupy apricots once more. Honey and toasted hot cross buns.
Syrupy thick with light carbonation.
Really good take on the Belgian Style. Deep and mellow with a great heady hit. seanbhudson (54), , California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 19, 2009 APPEARANCE:
Pours a hazy golden color with a medium white head that dissipates relatively quickly. There is a little bit of lacing.
SMELL:
Relatively strong aromas of honey suckle, apricot, ginger, cloves, alcohol and a little banana.
TASTE:
Taste similar to aroma. Sweet and spicy. There is a peppery alcohol flavor that comes through too.
MOUTHFEEL
A little syrupy with little dry finish from the fizzy carbonation.
DRINKABILITY:
Relatively drinkable beer if you like a slightly sweet and spicy beer. At 9.5% alcohol, I wouldn’t drink more than one at a time though.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 12, 2009 Pours a severely hazy luminescent pils color, much like a gueze. Aroma is...Brett? Really? Horseblanket, some sourness, and other yummy things. I was quite excited at this point - looks like a gueze, smells bretty - then I tasted it. Not sour, etc. at all. However, it is a very interesting belgian strong ale (definitely not a tripel - too hazy and sweet). Lots of nice spicy flavor balanced with quite a bit of alcohol. Rather complex and interesting. Quite tasty.
