| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 16, 2008 (Bottle) Pours a golden color with a slight haze. The pillow-like white head was quite appealing. Yeast and pear in the aroma. Sweet banana and Belgian yeasts dominate the flavor. Taste includes some dough, but lacking most of the spice mentioned in the commercial description. Good mouthfeel and noticeable alcoholic warming. A basic, yet tasty Tripel. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 15, 2008 Bottled. Honestly not my favourite tripel. Still a good beer though. Very nice appearance. For me the aroma and flavour was overpowered by the alcohol and citrus notes. I balance that out with the brewers willingness to try something different. j12601 (1323), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 1, 2008 Pours a hazy light honey color with a thin white head. Aromas are almost confused with varying herbs and a bit of malt and yeast. The flavor is... very different from what I was expecting (guess that’ll learn me to not read even the brewers description), with a very thick mouthfeel with a hint of sweetness that gives way to a warm finish with notes of coriander and other spices. Very interesting beer. 1010 (212), Marysville, Ohio, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 30, 2008 Golden monkey has a unique sweet frothy head and the color, well its golden. You can smell the sweet yeast, spice and malt. The palate is smooth and the taste is much like a normal belgian ale. aplusbreaks (330), , Colorado, USA

Spicy, yeasty citrusy aromas. Flavors of Spice, yeast, and a bit hops. Decent beer, but nothing spectacular. otakuden (518), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 23, 2008 Ironically enough, not even a week after hearing talk about this particular tripel from Victory Brewing, I got to have it on draft while on vacation in Atlanta. Then, just a few weeks later, a beer package from the sister graced me with yet another Golden Monkey to savor. Suffice to say, I thoroughly enjoyed both, and it was nice to compare the draft to the bottle, both of which melted my heart and seduced my tastebuds.
My Golden Monkey from Victory Brewing came to me in a lovely goblet where her liquid depths dwelled beneath a soft blanket of white foam. Bubbles raced to the top of her brew, bursting for joy and releasing a tantalizing array of aromas in her nose. As I gaze endearingly at the brussels lace and breathe deep, I enjoy sour yeast, fresh dough, apples, and pear. Raising my glass to my awaiting lips, her first few quaffs are light in weight yet with a full coating mouthfeel. Sour yeast and warm dough immediately up front and some mingling spice. Hints of coriander. Leaving a mildly dry palate, I detect a hint of bananas in her finish. Center stage wholly belongs to yeast, dough, spices, with an emerging lemon and citric zest. Despite her ABV, she is very quaffable with light warmth which slowly lingers, heightening my enjoyment of her palate.
A very simple and direct tripel, Victory’s Golden Monkey beauty lies in delivering a clean, well-balanced, spicy and yeasty Belgian treat. Belgian tripels are often overlooked against other Belgian beer styles, but I personally love their blend of simplicity and complexity. Golden Monkey is a shining example of this harmony. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 18, 2008 There is so much going on with this beer that I get lost in all the flavors. Pours an Oregon Duck yellow and has a mediumish head. This beer confuses me, but I still somehow find room to love it.
