| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 4, 2009 Bottle from Rodman’s. Pours golden with a thick white head. Tastes of candy sugar, malt, some citrus/fruit. Rather bland for the style but at a very good price, and better than many of the American tripels I’ve had. Gypsy19 (642), California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 1, 2009 6-pack, $11.99 from Whole Foods Arden. Pours a hazy gold-yellow with a large white head. Aroma is very fruity (light fruits) with generic spice. Yeasty aroma too. Flavor is again very spicy: Oh, that’s what they mean by white pepper! An epiphany there. Light fruits again, exemptli gratia citrus and peach/apricot. Light creaminess in flavor and in finish. Spritzy yet creamy mouthfeel. Damn good tripel! I don’t regret now buying the whole 6-pack. Overall, excellent. fogdoctor (20), Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 28, 2009 Pint glass from 12oz bottle. Chilled but not cold. Poured a nice golden yellow with what appeared to be very high carbonation. The bubbles soon dissipate and the carbonation is about right. The aroma is of ripe banana and pepper with lighter hits of coriander. Massive ripe bannana and citrus notes hit your first with a the rest of the profile taken up by spice (pepper, coriander, cinnamon), yeast, bread, and noticeable heat from alcohol. There is some nice hop bitterness for balance and coats your mouth with a great feel. Stands up very well to spicy cosine and the carbonation makes it quite refreshing. very nice "belgian" yellow fruity aroma, quite strong but not bitter or agressive, delicate. faint flowery hops blend in too..
flavor is quite special, not exactly your ordinary belgian ale. yellow fruity, flowery hoppy, mild spices that does not take front stage, but still changes the flavor to something exotic, pineapple?,, pommegranate?, a little more exotic than the usual belgian beer, but quite tasty. | 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Nov 27, 2009 Probably my favorite Victory brew, and nice to find that it seems to be available in my neck of the woods year round. Great robust hay in the malt backbone with some toast, a nice combination of floral and grass in the hops nose, sort of an earthy yeast background, and some of that typical banana/bubblegum Belgian stuff coming through. A great trippel. And very easy to drink.
