I find it has an off taste that I cant put my taste buds on. This is a beer that I think Ommegang does better and for half the price. doubletriple (52), Illinois, USA

This was like an Xmas belgian, spicy and smooth for as strong as it is. A young bottle, just appeared on the shelves at the local hooch stop one day. Wine like, tastes of fruit and yeast, sipped slowly and this was a sublime drinking experience as it warmed. God bless Belgium and the American brewers keeping their art alive. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 2, 2004 Amber colored with a big white head. Heavy candy sugar aroma. Flavor is quite dry and sweet. Good, not great Belgian style. beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 1, 2004 Pours a hazy orange with a ivory head. Aroma is filled with citrus and spice, good maltiness, and some nice finishing hops. Taste starts fruity and sweet and ends with a slightly acidic bitterness. Good fruity tastes run through this beer with some caramel and good spice towards the end. Well balanced and it has a nice carbonation. bu11zeye (5675), Frisco, Texas, USA

Caramel and malt aroma with some spices. Flavors of hops, sweet caramel, and some fruitiness. Thanks for sharing Patrick! Nuffield (2747), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 31, 2004 My first reaction was that this was a sort of Belgian winter ale, but I began to pull back from that assessment. Bready, yeasty, but moderate and restrained flavors--though I was never quite sure what those were. Limping through the palate after the fizz burns off. I’m definitely not over-enthusiastic about this. herbjones (742), Orange, California, USA

Pours an orange-ish brown brew with a pretty thick head. Slight spiciness in the nose with more of a malty floral hop presence. Medium bodied but my problem is with the flavor. Mild would be one way to describe it. Nothing is really jumping out. Not in a dominant way, just no assertiveness. Okay brew but nothing to go out of your way for. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 12, 2004 Updated: Aug 13, 2007Sampled from a 750 ml bottle this beer poured an opaque orange-gold color with a large orange head. There was a very sweet aroma of fruit and hops. The flavor was sweet, malty, fruity and had a strong hop presence. The hops really come through on the aftertaste, especially as the beer warms up. There was a noticeable alcohol burn, but not overwhelming for a beer with 9%. Very nice. I would certainly drink it again though I can not see it becoming one of my favorites.
