Sample at Sleepy Bear tasting 09/30/06 - 2003 vintage thanks jjpm74 - Aroma is strong spice, honey, malt, carmel, and some light fruits. Pours dark orange with medium head and great lacing. Flavor matches aroma with some citrus hoopy characteristics crepping in. Alcohol well hidden. Palate is creamy and tart. This has aged beautifully and tastes great. Wish I had more.

2003 Bottle. Pours a deep amber with a frothy head and exquisite lacing. Light peach and cedar in the nose. Flavor is blunt peach, wood, raisin, and a touch of orange peel. Mouthfeel flows like a river of flavor over the tongue. Another stellar effort from Victory.

Bottle of the 2003 vintage. A murky orange brown color with a foamy tan head. The aroma has orange, pears, peach, apple, light toasted malts and caramel. A smooth malty, light chocolate and caramel flavor. Mildly warming with a subtle alcohol finish. Balanced and enjoyable.

This poured amber and smelled of cloves (which I like) and vanilla (which I really don’t like). The licorace taste was strong enough to numb my tongue. I didn’t notice any of the fruitiness everyone else seems to, so maybe I had a bad bottle.

A hazy golden/amber pour with an off white light head. A nice yeasty aroma with a fruit kicker. A fruity almost appley flavor, and the light yeast flavor as well. A smooth very well carbonated palate for the style with a hint of some kind of bitter at the end. Thanks to whomever brought this to kp’s Cellar Party.

2003 Vintage: Poured a slightly hazy and chunky orange-amber color with a thin off-white head. Sweet and sugary aged malt aroma and flavor. Caramel malty flavor. Light fruit in the aroma. Lively mouthfeel.

Nutty brown in color with a light tan head that leaves some lacing in its wake. Chocolate, caramel, cherries, apple, lots of grains and fruity/floral yeast. Oatier, thicker palate with a long, long finish. Aggressive, with a bit of forward alcohol. Though this is a winter beer -- I would say it is good for any time of year. Splendid!

Hazy orange/amber body with an cream colored head. Sweet sugary aroma includes fruit, spice, caramel, yeast, and faint alcohol. Tastes mildly spicy, lightly sugary, fruity, faintly alcoholic. Aftertaste is lightly spicy, a little dry and a little yeasty.
