Commercial Description:
The radiant energy of the sun gives life to all that we enjoy. Flowing field of barley for malting, surging vines of ripening hops and even pure, clean water owe their vitality to the sun. Just as we do. So in crafting this unique, hazy orange-hued ale, we poured in nature’s great gifts of German malts and European hops to feed the dynamic yeast that we imported from Belgium. Here in the quiet tanks of Victory our yeast brought vitality to this Belgian style farmhouse ale. That energy has created impressions that range from lemon peel to black pepper, though such spices are not added. Great with a wide array of foods, count on the bright soul of Helios Ale to bring life to all of your meals!

Bottled on July 3rd 2007 (My 20th Birthday...Yes I am 21). Pours a clear gold with a frothy white head that leaves some lace. Second pour has a plethora of particles. Aroma of cork, bread, light pepper, pear, attic and very faint coriander. Taste is dry with candi sugar, musty, pear, bread, wheat, a bit oxidized with a still bitter finish. Lively carbonation and dry mouthfeel.

Bottle from July 2007. Pours a very murky light pils color with far less head than I would ever expect from a saison. Lots of candi sugar in the nose, which is also a bit strange, and some spices in the back. Taste is quite thin with a lot of spicing all around the center of the taste. A bit of munich breadiness, some sugar, a little pils. Pairs well with spicy food. The yeast shines through much better as it warms. A solid beer, but not a terribly great saison.

Bottle courtesy of sebletitje. It pours hazy opaque gold with big bubbled white head. The aroma is wheat, spice and a bit of apple, a bit of raisin and more spice. The taste has notes of sweet apple and plum mixing with wheat and faint bubble gum. To the midway point it gets slightly spicy and then finishes with a bit more wheat. Nice.

Aroma is sweet and floral with notes of honey, butterscotch, caramel and hints of citrus and wood. Flavor is sweet and floral with notes of bready yeast, honey, caramel, light ripe fruit. Generally light to medium body with a somewhat crisp citrus finish.

Thanks sebletitje for the share. Pours an orange-gold with a white head. Nose is citrusy- orange, lemon, grapefruit, and tangerine. Flavor is similar with lemon and lime notes emerging. Very light, fizzy, and refreshing. Yeast plays a part in the drama, but does not dominate. Very easy-drinking saison.
