Commercial Description:
The radiant energy of the sun gives life to all that we enjoy. Flowing field of barley for malting, surging vines of ripening hops and even pure, clean water owe their vitality to the sun. Just as we do. So in crafting this unique, hazy orange-hued ale, we poured in nature’s great gifts of German malts and European hops to feed the dynamic yeast that we imported from Belgium. Here in the quiet tanks of Victory our yeast brought vitality to this Belgian style farmhouse ale. That energy has created impressions that range from lemon peel to black pepper, though such spices are not added. Great with a wide array of foods, count on the bright soul of Helios Ale to bring life to all of your meals!

Pours deep gold into a tulip. Fluffy white micro head recedes to skim surface leaving no lacing. Caramel malt and candi aromas. Upfront sweet honey and biscuit which turns to pine in the middle. Lasting, dry and slightly sour finish.

Tap at Blind Tiger. Pale golden beer with a thick white head. Aroma is decent, light apple/pear fruitiness underlying a nice spicy black pepper/clovey character. Nice dry palate with a bit of crusty breadiness and a lingering wheatiness. Warming bring up more spiciness and loads of fruitiness as well. Cherries and a light berry character as well. Some light citrus on the back. It’s quite nice, but it really lacks the rusticity that I normally enjoy in a good saison.

I give it a good flavor score because it tastes more of earth than of hops, which I respect and enjoy. Nice hop flavor too, don’t misunderstand, but this is much more balanced than I usually encounter in saison.

Pours a nice orange/amber color with a big off-white and lasting head. A little sweet and fruity upfront, and finishes clean and slightly bitter. Good stuff.

i often think that hennepin is the poor man’s saison dupont, but this falls somewhere in between the two, it is able to pick up on some of the micro subtleties that hennepin seems to miss out on (and i love hennepin!). seeing 750s of anything by victory caught my eye, and the opportunity to try their saison was not something to be passed on, and it was no disappointment!

Appealing orange color with good carbonation and head. Enjoyable aroma, albeit hard to pin down, but with essence of caramel banana. Flavor is light caramel malt. Perilously drinkable, but would never call this a "saison."

Pours a straw yellow color with a sopay white head. Aroma of lemons and yeast. Taste is complex-lemony zest with yeast and some tartness. Dry finish. Very nice.

2005 bottle at Butters Big Blowout. Clearish yellow with slight chill-haze and bubbly white head. Citrus nose and massively bready. Farmhouse flavors aren’t overpowering and is suprisingly balanced. Nice and thin refreshing body with big carbonation. Decent, not overly tart, finish.
