Commercial Description:
The radiant energy of the sun gives life to all that we enjoy. Flowing field of barley for malting, surging vines of ripening hops and even pure, clean water owe their vitality to the sun. Just as we do. So in crafting this unique, hazy orange-hued ale, we poured in nature’s great gifts of German malts and European hops to feed the dynamic yeast that we imported from Belgium. Here in the quiet tanks of Victory our yeast brought vitality to this Belgian style farmhouse ale. That energy has created impressions that range from lemon peel to black pepper, though such spices are not added. Great with a wide array of foods, count on the bright soul of Helios Ale to bring life to all of your meals!

i often think that hennepin is the poor man’s saison dupont, but this falls somewhere in between the two, it is able to pick up on some of the micro subtleties that hennepin seems to miss out on (and i love hennepin!). seeing 750s of anything by victory caught my eye, and the opportunity to try their saison was not something to be passed on, and it was no disappointment!

Appealing orange color with good carbonation and head. Enjoyable aroma, albeit hard to pin down, but with essence of caramel banana. Flavor is light caramel malt. Perilously drinkable, but would never call this a "saison."

Pours a straw yellow color with a sopay white head. Aroma of lemons and yeast. Taste is complex-lemony zest with yeast and some tartness. Dry finish. Very nice.

2005 bottle at Butters Big Blowout. Clearish yellow with slight chill-haze and bubbly white head. Citrus nose and massively bready. Farmhouse flavors aren’t overpowering and is suprisingly balanced. Nice and thin refreshing body with big carbonation. Decent, not overly tart, finish.

750 ml bottle. An enjoyable beer, but is sweeter than classic saisons. Average frothy, white, diminishing head above a dark yellow, cloudy body. Aroma has notes of grain, hay, cobweb, banana and clove with a lighter note of pear. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly bitter and moderately acidic. Medium body with a watery texture that turns creamy. Lively carbonation. Nice.

750ml corked & caged bottle: Brilliant golden pour with a rim clinging white head. This is pretty hoppy for the style, offering lots of citrus and perfume up front in the body and nose. The body dries nicely as esthery notes bombard the tongue. Pears, apricot and sweet oranges mix well with the moderate dose of honeyed malt. Finishes dry with a peppery alcohol burn. Nicely done.

Bottle, 750 ml. Hazy particulate yellow, with a diminishing white head. Good lacing. Sour aroma, but complex on the palate with a salty, sweet, and sour all in one drink. Dry finish. My first saison, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I look forward to drinking more of thi style.
