Commercial Description:
The radiant energy of the sun gives life to all that we enjoy. Flowing field of barley for malting, surging vines of ripening hops and even pure, clean water owe their vitality to the sun. Just as we do. So in crafting this unique, hazy orange-hued ale, we poured in nature’s great gifts of German malts and European hops to feed the dynamic yeast that we imported from Belgium. Here in the quiet tanks of Victory our yeast brought vitality to this Belgian style farmhouse ale. That energy has created impressions that range from lemon peel to black pepper, though such spices are not added. Great with a wide array of foods, count on the bright soul of Helios Ale to bring life to all of your meals!

Bomber. Sweet amlts with grapefruit and lemon citrus in the nose, dry herbal note with coriander and wheat, light pepper. Pours a pale yellow-orange with a large creamy white head. Taste is lightly tart and puckering, pale malt with strong lemon and lighter pepper. Perfume and yeast, strong carbonation to be seen but not overbearingly felt. Very dry and spicy, and larger gulps are nearing intense! Vanilla and pretty well-hidden alcohol. Dry and only lightly bitter. Medium body and reminds of freshly squeezed pink grapefruit juice. Accessible and fun.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Gilly’s, 9/11/09

Aroma: Very earthy, some grass, funk, yeast, and a bit of spice
Appearance:Bright, clear golden color, big fluffy white head, lots of lace
Flavor: Nice farmhouse flavor, mild funk, some hops, and yeasty malts
Palate: Very smooth, nice crisp mouthfeel, easy drinking but a medium body
Overall Impression: This is a pretty interesting saison, a brew that I enjoyed. Nice full nose of earthy farmhouse and a nice saison flavor as well, couldn’t tell this is 7.5% either, I got not burn.

22 oz – Perfect Pour. Lightly hazed gold, foamy white head. Soft rustic grassy-honey and peppery citric aromas right lighter undercurrents of cheddar cheese bread and manure. Light sweet funked hay and grass flavors balance well on further notes of peppered citrus. Rounds out well with finishing hop bitterness. Medium bodied, prickly carbonation, drying, bittersweet finish. A nice rendition, but not in the same class as a Saison Dupont…

Pours a slightly hay light golden orange color with light golden yellow hues when held to a light source and a 1.5 finger frothy white head. Visible carbonation bubbling up the chalice. Earthy aroma with a nice peppery spice character. Light golden fruit notes coming from the Belgian yeast compliment the bread and citrus peel notes as well as some subtle earthy hops. Very carbonated up front with a creamy, medium body. Lots of earthy notes, hop bitterness, light crisp fruit, citrus peel, lemon zest, spicy pepper and strong alcohol astringency. Slightly dry finish.

Bottle Pours a hazy gold with a big bubbly white head. The head has average lastability, and laces very well. Aroma is sweet and floral. With hints of spices, lemon, and hay. Has a hig carbonation. The mouthfeel is good. The flavor is excellent with spices, tart fruits, and an airy quality. The texture is dry at first then watery but not watered down clean like water. Has a medium body. The finish is good with a good aftertaste. WIth the price of this I would not have thought it would pack the punch it did. It just goes to show great beer doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg,,,,just an arm. Very reasonable and good tasting....great job Victory.

Bottle. Pours pale gold with a big foamy head. Redolent of lemon, slight hint of sourness, black pepper corns, wheat, slgithly hayish, and slightly orange citrus. The flavor begins sweet, then slightly tart, it produces a mellow farmhouse flavors of earth, hay, and perhaps even a little leather but all very unobtrusive and subtle, then cracked pepper, bitter orange peel, coriander, and a slight hop character all melded together rather perfectly. The palate is equally enticing as it is light and quenching without being overcarbonated or cloying alcoholic for such a mellow beer.

golden with huge white head. appropriately large level of carbonation for the style. spicy hop nose. flavor is just great, some yesty esters with fruitiness and then really spicy hop character that is the predominant flavor. the only downfall is that the fusyl alcohols come on a little stong. nice and dry finish. a great saison, the spicy hop character really makes me re-evaluate their role in certain belgian styles, makes an amazing difference
