| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 8, 2009 Bottle. Pours a copper rustic body with a large off white head. Earthy spicy citrus bitterness in terms of aromatic character. Spruce and some spiced sawdust. A hint of candied fruit, pear, dusty citrus with a light etoh warming with a hint vodka-esk warming that i could do without. jeremytoni (1122), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 5, 2009 22 oz bottle from Capones. Poured a great looking clear golden body with lots of rising tiny bubbles that gave this one the appearance of champagne. The head was huge and fluffy bright white with lots of lasting power and a small coating of lace. The aroma on this one was all funk, some lemon and pear with slight spice notes but man was this one funky. So funky in fact I would have swore that this was made with brett. The flavor was similar with lots of funk and fruit with slight spice. I went back and read about a dozen reviews and was shocked to see just one mention of the word "funk". Either mine had the prefect infection or some sort of divine intervention must have happened with my bottle. FriarHop (31), Long Beach, New York, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 4, 2009 Updated: Sep 6, 2009spicey and citrusy. Sparkling golden-orange body this is a very tasty beer. Starts off citrusy which leads to nice spices (pepper, clove) and finishes with a light grapefruit taste. White head with a very clean appearance. Light-medium body which is nicely carbonated and easy to drink. smcolw (373), Wayland, Massachusetts, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 3, 2009 Huge, nearly pure white head. Goes down slowly leaves little lace. Straw color liquid; nearly clear.
Lots of golden malt aroma; slightly citrusy but not from the hop which is quite mild. Some spruce smell also.
If I were blindfolded, I would expect a darker looking beer. This looks like a macro (albeit with a huge head), but tastes like a over-hopped APA. Grapefruit and pine bitter flavors from the hop. Solid malt delivery. Long, tongue-cleansing aftertaste. Only the body comes across as typical to me.
I notice when I’m inspired to write a lot, it’s always a good beer. This is better than most and may be my new favorite Saison. Vas19 (299), Maryland, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 3, 2009 Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is belgian funk, spices, and yeast. Flavor is more funk, lemon, spice, and a grassy maltiness. Well carbonated. Decent.
