Commercial Description:
The radiant energy of the sun gives life to all that we enjoy. Flowing field of barley for malting, surging vines of ripening hops and even pure, clean water owe their vitality to the sun. Just as we do. So in crafting this unique, hazy orange-hued ale, we poured in nature’s great gifts of German malts and European hops to feed the dynamic yeast that we imported from Belgium. Here in the quiet tanks of Victory our yeast brought vitality to this Belgian style farmhouse ale. That energy has created impressions that range from lemon peel to black pepper, though such spices are not added. Great with a wide array of foods, count on the bright soul of Helios Ale to bring life to all of your meals!

Enjoyed from a 22oz bottle in an elongated tulip glass. The beer pours a yellowish-orange color with a rocky white head. Despite an effort at decanting, a noticeable amount of suspended yeast made its way into the glass. The aroma shows notes of citrus/lemon, as well as a marked spicy/earthy hop note. The palate is powerfully spritzy, forcing the drinker to carefully attempt to note the melange of flavors that greet the tongue with each sip. Pilsner malt sweetness up front, with perhaps the slightest touch of a Munich or CaraMunich. This flows into a lemony and slightly soapy yeast ester character, before slinking into a nicely dry finish that supports the spicy note of the hops used. Saison is a notoriously difficult style to nail, and I think this is a nice interpretation.

22oz bomber. Pours deep gold with an immense, rock, long-lasting white foam that levaes thick stripes and chunks of lace on the glass. The aroma is awesome, classic farmhouse ale - grassy, subtle honey sweetness, light earthiness, and hints of licorice and spices/phenols. The flavor is very grassy with lots of hops and a soft acidic bite. There is a light graininess and even lighter malt sweetness on top of a thin-crispy-cracker malt breadiness. The midpalate has growing esters and phenols with a grainy and fairly hop-forward grassy bitterness. The finish is very dry with soft cidery flavors, grassy hops, and notes of licorice and black pepper. The mouthfeel is crisp and sharply carbonated and has a fuller than expected medium-full body with creamy, tingly bubbles. Overall - a very authentic farmhouse ale - very tasty, very nice.

Large bottle. Pretty good example of a belgian ale. Pours golden with plenty of carbonation and a large fluffy head that leaves a lacing on the glass. Crisp and dry with hints of clove and pear.

Pours from the 22oz. bottle a golden yellow color with a large pillowy head that settles into a light lacing. The carbonation is light but active. The aroma is of hay, grass, & lemon. 1st sip is crisp & dry, with notes of bitter citrus peel (orange & lemon) that intensify on the swallow. Mouthfeel is bubbly, tingly, light & crisp. Drinkability is superb, I could easily down one after another on a July day. Overall, a very refreshing beer that would go very well at a cookout or on a hot summer day. Quite a pleasant beer! Victory does it again!!!

Bottle. Moderate malt aroma of hay, gras and lemon for the hops, barnyard, dough and sweat for the yeast, with sulfur, clove and green apple in the background. Head is large, fizzy, white, with fair lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is sparkling clear golden yellow on the first pour and is fairly hazy on the last. flavor starts faintly sweet and moderately to heavily acidic, then finishes moderately acidic and bitter. Palate is on the lighter side of medium, oily and has a fizzy carbonation and a lightly astringent finish. Fruity without being too sweet, but a few off aromas drove it down a bit.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a medium sized white head. Big spicy musky saison yeast, light wheat and citrus notes. Big citrus, with a hint of pineapple. Nice fine carbonation with a great mouthfeel. Musky yeast finish with a slow light bitterness.
