Victory Herkules

For some strange reason i was told this was an imperial ipa when i was served this at the brewpub... Poured a golden color with a nice head... Citrus notes of grapefruit and orange in the nose, but very one dimensional... Flavor was a bit bitter with maltiness shining through moreso than the hops.. a touch sweet... Much more appropriate as an APA, than IIPA...

On-tap at PP C’Bad. Pours hazy amber with a moderate sized white head and good lace. Smells spicy hoppy and slightly fruity sweet, rich sweet caramel malts as well. Tastes sweet and malty with spicy hops and a bit of different. astringent hop/alcohol flavor. Overall sweet and caramelly with lingering hop bitterness. Medium/full body, slightly syrupy, ok carbonation.

Sort of a small IPA, malty, fruity, lightly hopped. I had one of the rare bottles prepared for, or before, the GABF. Orange color, small head, nose of caramel and American hops. Taste of caramel, sweet malts, sweet fruit, citrus hops. Long but tempered bitter finish.

From tap at Hollingshead. Pours almost clear, golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is crisp mango and orange fruity hoppy. Crisp hoppy flavoured, light mango fruity and lowly going into a more grapefruity flavour. Smooth fruity and crisp bitter finish, dry.

On tap. Clear amber golden with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel and citrusy hops. Medium body, some strange unclean caramel notes - toffee or bonbons - and fairly metallic. Rather hoppy finish. A strange bird, and one that doesn’t fly well. 060709

Draft at brewpub. Pours coppery with orangy edges and 2-finger off-white head. Nose is hoppy, grapefruity and floral. Tastes floral and hoppy, with a solid bready caramel malt bill and some tangerine, pineapple, and spicy flavor hints.

Clear golden with a fizzy white head. Grapefruit and pine aroma. Bready lime and orange taste with a crisp grainy finish.

Draft at Lucky Baldwin’s. Not the best Belgian IPA I’ve ever had. Yeasty, mild tartness, European hops.
