Jul 20, 2009 On tap. Clear amber golden with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel and citrusy hops. Medium body, some strange unclean caramel notes - toffee or bonbons - and fairly metallic. Rather hoppy finish. A strange bird, and one that doesn’t fly well. 060709

Jul 23, 2009 From tap at Hollingshead. Pours almost clear, golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is crisp mango and orange fruity hoppy. Crisp hoppy flavoured, light mango fruity and lowly going into a more grapefruity flavour. Smooth fruity and crisp bitter finish, dry.

May 19, 2009 @CBC-12oz bottle-pours a white ring for a head and amber color. Aroma is spice hops, secondary light/medium malt-caramel. Taste is bitter spice hops, secondary light/medium malt-caramel. Aggressive carbonation.

Jun 20, 2009 On tap at Verdugo in LA: Pours a transparent bright golden with an airy, frothy white head. Aroma of semi-sweet pale malt and lots of herbal grassy noble hops. Body is similar to the nose with a ton of real earthy herbal hops, maybe something like Tettnang, and a touch of biscuity malt before a drier, crisp bittersweet finish. This doesn’t real seem like an IPA, but more like a hoppy Belgian ale with European hops.

Jul 15, 2009 Draft at brewpub. Pours coppery with orangy edges and 2-finger off-white head. Nose is hoppy, grapefruity and floral. Tastes floral and hoppy, with a solid bready caramel malt bill and some tangerine, pineapple, and spicy flavor hints.

May 26, 2009 On tap at the brewpub. Listed as CBC Herkules. Dark gold with a big white head. Citrusy nose, some earth, medium caramel. Nice hoppy citrus bite to the flavor, some grass and light caramel. A good drinker.

Sep 5, 2009 Sort of a small IPA, malty, fruity, lightly hopped. I had one of the rare bottles prepared for, or before, the GABF. Orange color, small head, nose of caramel and American hops. Taste of caramel, sweet malts, sweet fruit, citrus hops. Long but tempered bitter finish.
