Commercial Description:
Horace ‘Hop’ Wallop headed West a broken man. For it was a certain Miss LuLubelle Lager that had left him, thirsting for more. Drawn by wild tales of the riches of the gold mines, Hop pressed on westward. His last nickel spent on a prospecting pan, Hop's hunger and thirst got the best of him. Two fistfuls o' barley and three of some wild and wayward hops tossed in the pan with some clear water was to be his meal. But sleep overcame him and he woke to a bubbling, cacophonous concoction. Overjoyed with the beautiful ale that he had made, Hop realized the secret of the 'green gold' he had discovered in those fresh hops. Celebrated far and wide, Hop Wallop lives on in this vivid ale with his words, "hoppiness is happiness." As our annual homage to the fresh hop harvest, Hop Wallop is a fragrant experience that delights the tastebuds. Pure gold of color, this ale offers its heady bounty of hops to the adventurous of taste. Bold, bracing and surprisingly refreshing for a strong (8.5% a.b.v.) ale, Hop Wallop lives up to its name and legacy.

Bottle. Boring, boring DIPA. Some nice sweet candy grape in the nose. The taste is nothing special at all. Sure hoppy but i want a little more malt/fruitiness/extreme hops in a DIPA for it to stand out among others.

Bottle at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Very much what you expect for a DIPA from a hop head west coast brewery. Lots of hops, oranges and slightly oily.

smells a little like a belgian triple, and malty and fruity, but not really hoppy, a bit of alcohol as well. pours a beautiful honey gold, nice persistent head and great lacing. flavor definitely has hops in it, but in a very unusual way. back of the mouth bitterness, as if you had just gnawed on some grapefruit rind. some nice fruitiness up front. actually, pretty interesting, it has many characteristics not found in other ipa’s or dipa’s. would never have guessed it was 8.5%abv. very creamy and full bodied as it warms up. sweet

22oz bomber. Citrusy aroma. Poured fairly golden with a nice head. Laced the glass nicely. Heavy bitterness and lots of hop flavors which is what I look for in a beer especially one of this style. I can’t get enough hops and this beer satisfies that craving.

pours out a sunny gold with a very nice head that was very still. the body is a hazy bright oarnge. the aromas are citrusy and acidic. there is also a lot of pine in the nose with a lot of hop bitterness coming through. it is almost medium bodied with a strong yet very nice hop kick. it is citrusy and spicy . i taste a lot hops, lemon zest, pine oils, and hop resins. pretty strong on the palate, but not overpowering were it is undrinkable. a lot of flavor in this beer, and character. the atertaste is pretty dry and leaves an all hop aftertaste with just a little bit of malt backbone and sweetness.

A: Nice honey yellow color with a billowing head at the pour. The head fades to a nice ring circling the brew as it is continually fed by a steady rush of bubbles to the top. Sticky lacing is left behind as the contents disappear. A nice looking DIPA. S: Has a nice citrus aroma to it. I smell grapefruit mainly, not much else. Pretty mild compared to other reviews. T: A nice DIPA. Starts off pretty mild with a light sweetness about it. Then you are hit with the punch of hops. Sharp, acidic hops, a nice taste that is different from any other DIPA I have tried before. M: This one is pretty full bodied.

22oz bottle poured into a Duvel Tulip. A delicious looking beer . . . strong 1 inch head and a great golden body. A crisp piney taste with little grapefruit notes and a nice malt finish. The malt finish gets creamier as this one mellows out. 8.5 ABV is well hide which makes it highly drinkable.

Clear orange/red w/ a thin head that recedes into lasting scum on top. Citrus, pine and bread. A load of malt, but citrus and bread crust predominate, medium body, thin palate. Hoppy and nicely made, i.e., quaffable.
