Commercial Description:
Horace ‘Hop’ Wallop headed West a broken man. For it was a certain Miss LuLubelle Lager that had left him, thirsting for more. Drawn by wild tales of the riches of the gold mines, Hop pressed on westward. His last nickel spent on a prospecting pan, Hop's hunger and thirst got the best of him. Two fistfuls o' barley and three of some wild and wayward hops tossed in the pan with some clear water was to be his meal. But sleep overcame him and he woke to a bubbling, cacophonous concoction. Overjoyed with the beautiful ale that he had made, Hop realized the secret of the 'green gold' he had discovered in those fresh hops. Celebrated far and wide, Hop Wallop lives on in this vivid ale with his words, "hoppiness is happiness." As our annual homage to the fresh hop harvest, Hop Wallop is a fragrant experience that delights the tastebuds. Pure gold of color, this ale offers its heady bounty of hops to the adventurous of taste. Bold, bracing and surprisingly refreshing for a strong (8.5% a.b.v.) ale, Hop Wallop lives up to its name and legacy.

Rather tame "double IPA" that tastes more like a imperial pilsner to me. Aroma is somewhere far away with only some perfumey hops present. Taste is thin with a harsh perfumey bitterness in the finish. Mouthfeel is quite nice, refreshingly light with decent carbonation but this beer totally fails on the two most important aspects, aroma and taste.

Amber colored brew. Nice floral, hoppy aroma. Flavor is hoppy, but not as intense as I would expect. Nice hopbitterness though, a bit floral and citric. Very drinkable.

Enjoy by date: Dec 16, 2009. Clear blonde color; dense medium sticky beige head. Aroma - hop oils, floral, biscuit, very reminiscent to me of Nugget Nectar in fact. Flavor - initial attack of sweetness followed by a slightly bitter hop kick. Medium bodied, oily, sticky. Way too sweet for my tastes. I already have an appointment next week to get a filling done, I don’t need any more cavities. I’m exaggerating of course, but seriously, the sweetness drags this down several notches in my book. I don’t remember Hop Devil being my favorite IPA either, but given a choice, I’d choose that one over this. Worth trying the single bottle for $2.29, but that’s the last time for me.

Enjoy by date: 12/16/09. Pours pale amber with one finger white head. Good amount of lacings. Aroma is not as big as I anticipated. A floral hop and peach pit aroma. Taste is bitter citrus hops with a bit more depth than most. The malts are clean and lend just enough support to make this very drinkable. Watch out for the alcohol though as it is well hidden. I am nearing the finish of this tasty 12 ounce beer and am feeling no pain. Not a session beer due to the overall effects. Nice beer though. Dry bitter finish.

Bottle. Poured pale orange with lasting white foamy head. Aroma of hop, citrus, pine and grass. Full mouthed hoppy flavour, with naartjie notes. Lasting bitter hop finish. Another winner from Victory.

From a 12 oz bottle this IPA poured an amber color with a nice thick whiteish head... nice lacing. Nose of floral hops and apricot along with some piney scents. Nice solid hoppy beer while delivering the expected tasty citrusy bitter IPA taste. Looking forward to comparing it to the Hop Devil which is in the beer fridge right next to it.

Mini growler from Half-Time. Pours a clear light amber with a remarkably big white head. Aromas of toast, malt, and some citrus hops. Sweet, medium bodied. Grapefruit bitterness on the finish that develops slowly, fades, and then comes back for an encore. I haven’t had this in quite a while, but remember it being much better.
