Commercial Description:
Horace ‘Hop’ Wallop headed West a broken man. For it was a certain Miss LuLubelle Lager that had left him, thirsting for more. Drawn by wild tales of the riches of the gold mines, Hop pressed on westward. His last nickel spent on a prospecting pan, Hop's hunger and thirst got the best of him. Two fistfuls o' barley and three of some wild and wayward hops tossed in the pan with some clear water was to be his meal. But sleep overcame him and he woke to a bubbling, cacophonous concoction. Overjoyed with the beautiful ale that he had made, Hop realized the secret of the 'green gold' he had discovered in those fresh hops. Celebrated far and wide, Hop Wallop lives on in this vivid ale with his words, "hoppiness is happiness." As our annual homage to the fresh hop harvest, Hop Wallop is a fragrant experience that delights the tastebuds. Pure gold of color, this ale offers its heady bounty of hops to the adventurous of taste. Bold, bracing and surprisingly refreshing for a strong (8.5% a.b.v.) ale, Hop Wallop lives up to its name and legacy.

this is a nice iipa, it shares some characteristics with ruination (light straw color, but there is no malt backbone in this ale, and the bitterness is sharp on the back of the tongue. i enjoyed this, but i would rather just have a hopdevil

Bottle. Orange/amber pour with thin white head diminishing into a slick of lace. Mango and pine resin on the nose. Big hop presence, mango/citrus/pine in taste. A bit oily. Malt is taking a back seat with this one. Medium mouthfeel. Bitter dry finish with a bit of heat. Very nice.

Appearance: Crystal clear, little white head. Aroma: citrus, resin, grass, typical of style, but does have a little too noticeable of a caramel toast aspect to it. Flavor: Malt backbone becomes too noticeable. Not as well balanced as others in this category. Palate: medium body, oily feel, average carbonation, bitter. Good, not great.

Thanks 17thfloor! Pours crystal clear golden with a nice fluffy white head and nice lacing. Aroma is oh so sweet hops, almost to the point of being too sweet. Very strong pineapple and grapefruit notes, very fresh and pungent. Flavor starts with the same strong ripe pineapple and grapefruit but gives way to a much needed and appreciated hop resin bitterness. The bitterness isn’t overly strong though and the malt becomes much more prevalent in the finish. Medium bodied and low to moderate carbonation that fits just right. Definitely a tasty IPA but easy drinking and not overly powerful for the casual IPA drinker. Hides the high alcohol very well.

On tap at the Bavarian Lodge, Lisle,Il. Tall chalice served. Golden color and clear in the glass, with a white, creamy head. and solid, lasting lace. Citrus, grapefruit, pineapple, spruce, and (I detest this description, but I guess it fits) "a wisp of litter box", are present in the aroma. The flavor is dry with the citrus, resin, and light malt notes following. The body is medium, with a light-syrupy texture. I liked the bigger hop punch at the finish when it was warmer.

Poured at 50 degrees, comes out with thin fleeting white head. Aroma is piney yet smooth hoppiness. Decent carbonation and definite presence or early boil hopping. Tastes are piney and linger on the tongue. Slight sense of malt balance that will probably come through as it warms. Decent ipa, worth a test.
