Commercial Description:
Horace ‘Hop’ Wallop headed West a broken man. For it was a certain Miss LuLubelle Lager that had left him, thirsting for more. Drawn by wild tales of the riches of the gold mines, Hop pressed on westward. His last nickel spent on a prospecting pan, Hop's hunger and thirst got the best of him. Two fistfuls o' barley and three of some wild and wayward hops tossed in the pan with some clear water was to be his meal. But sleep overcame him and he woke to a bubbling, cacophonous concoction. Overjoyed with the beautiful ale that he had made, Hop realized the secret of the 'green gold' he had discovered in those fresh hops. Celebrated far and wide, Hop Wallop lives on in this vivid ale with his words, "hoppiness is happiness." As our annual homage to the fresh hop harvest, Hop Wallop is a fragrant experience that delights the tastebuds. Pure gold of color, this ale offers its heady bounty of hops to the adventurous of taste. Bold, bracing and surprisingly refreshing for a strong (8.5% a.b.v.) ale, Hop Wallop lives up to its name and legacy.

On tap from pint glass (unfortunately). Light orange color with virtually no head. Not a lot of aroma - mostly sweet citrus (oranges maybe). Tase is citrus, pine. Not very malty for relatively high ABV and pretty smooth.

Barnyard grassy piney light golden pour with retaining head. Tasty hops, but a one dimensional brew. I guess the name says it all. Hop bitterness up front but not balanced well and leaves a desiring flatness and a noticed lack of a rounding completedness. That said, still it devlivers where it promises. Worthy a try.

Bottle. Pours a very light golden amber with a frothy white head with plenty of lacing. Excellent carbonation. The aroma is lighter than what I expected from this one, but faint bits of pine, citrus and a few floral notes. What this one lacks in aroma, it makes up for it in flavor. Huge burst of hops immediately hits you, and then it follows it up with a light bit of malt, and then a finishing dose of more hops. This one is a palate buster, and I like it! This is best tasted fresh as I think these hops will die down quickly.

bottle from durhambeer, thanks! I have been wanting to try this for quite some time and its a winner. Mostly clear amber pour, very small ring of a white head at the edges of the glass. Aroma is very muted. I smell some floral and citrus hops. Flavor is very hoppy at first, giving way to a great dose of malts and then finishes bitter again. Hops are grassy and citrus. This is a smooth brew. It is rated well, but still I feel it is underrated.

On tap at Stone. Not too assaulting on the nose like some IIPAs. Pleasant light orange amber color. Bright fluffy head. First taste is bitter. Second third and fourth taste are all bitter too. When I finally could put it down for 30 seconds I got a LATE creamy aftertaste. It was like an afterthought and my mouth decided to throw it out there for a laugh. By the halfway point it lost a bit of the bitterness and mellowed a bit with the warmth. Nice brew.

bottle served in a stem glass. Hazy gold body topped by a diminishing head. Smells citrusy and floral. Taste has some grass and pineapple notes as well as a hint of caramel. The deep bitter finish lasts a long time. Decent.

On top at Victory and via the bottle. Based on the tap it was a nice beer with lots of citrus hop. The color was nice and in general a really good beer. I think I do prefer the Hop Devil as the taste was a little more refined than this if that makes sense.

(Bottle). Hops and citrus aroma. Yellow-orange body, off-white head. Flavor not particularly assertive....mild citrus, some sweetness. Not much of a finish. Refreshing, but not memorable.
