Commercial Description:
Horace ‘Hop’ Wallop headed West a broken man. For it was a certain Miss LuLubelle Lager that had left him, thirsting for more. Drawn by wild tales of the riches of the gold mines, Hop pressed on westward. His last nickel spent on a prospecting pan, Hop's hunger and thirst got the best of him. Two fistfuls o' barley and three of some wild and wayward hops tossed in the pan with some clear water was to be his meal. But sleep overcame him and he woke to a bubbling, cacophonous concoction. Overjoyed with the beautiful ale that he had made, Hop realized the secret of the 'green gold' he had discovered in those fresh hops. Celebrated far and wide, Hop Wallop lives on in this vivid ale with his words, "hoppiness is happiness." As our annual homage to the fresh hop harvest, Hop Wallop is a fragrant experience that delights the tastebuds. Pure gold of color, this ale offers its heady bounty of hops to the adventurous of taste. Bold, bracing and surprisingly refreshing for a strong (8.5% a.b.v.) ale, Hop Wallop lives up to its name and legacy.

Heavy on the hops as the name suggests. Grapefruit and orange mix aroma. Frothy white head with fair lacing. Murky clarity with a medium amber hue. Slightly bitter but not as bitter as Bell’s hop slam. Medium body with lively carbonation. Moderate alcohol feel to the finish.

Pours copper and there are hops and citrus notes in the aroma. Hops, hops, and more hops in the flavor. It is a good blend and not overly bitter. It actually has quite a sweet finish. The bitterness comes in the aftertaste which is also dry.

Bottle. Amber with a small lumpy off-white head. Interesting lacing. Aroma of floral and pine hops with a good amount of malt as well. Flavor was a bit off somehow though. Hard to explain but I don’t think the flavor complimented the aroma and the alcohol is quite present. I think I’ll try this again. Sometimes after a revisit I like certain beers better. Especially since Victory has impressed me with some other brews.

Poured a Gold color, with small white head. Nice hoppy and citrus smell. The mix between the barley and hops is nice. Another good brew by Victory.

Twickenham Brewery tasting 08. Clear gold, thin white head. Thanks to some decent hops. It’s fine. But a bit metallic. It’s ok, a little disappointing.

A Mes rate: Bottle at the Tom’s awesome Twickenham Brewery tasting.
Clean bright gold with an excellent white head. Big resinous hop aroma with some background malt. Lots of petrol. Full on malt and hops in the mouth. Just about balanced but lacking in finesse. Long bitter finish with a little bit of metal. Excellent palate makes it. Was expecting much more of a wallop, it never came.

(Sample from July 18, 2008 Beer Club Meeting) Cloudy orange with a huge frothy head, no carbonation. Smell is fruity. Taste is somewhat alcoholic, grapefruity. Nice fumes on the nose. My uvula is just fine… Creamy and thick. Nice! Malty hoppenings! I really enjoyed this one.
