Commercial Description:
Horace ‘Hop’ Wallop headed West a broken man. For it was a certain Miss LuLubelle Lager that had left him, thirsting for more. Drawn by wild tales of the riches of the gold mines, Hop pressed on westward. His last nickel spent on a prospecting pan, Hop's hunger and thirst got the best of him. Two fistfuls o' barley and three of some wild and wayward hops tossed in the pan with some clear water was to be his meal. But sleep overcame him and he woke to a bubbling, cacophonous concoction. Overjoyed with the beautiful ale that he had made, Hop realized the secret of the 'green gold' he had discovered in those fresh hops. Celebrated far and wide, Hop Wallop lives on in this vivid ale with his words, "hoppiness is happiness." As our annual homage to the fresh hop harvest, Hop Wallop is a fragrant experience that delights the tastebuds. Pure gold of color, this ale offers its heady bounty of hops to the adventurous of taste. Bold, bracing and surprisingly refreshing for a strong (8.5% a.b.v.) ale, Hop Wallop lives up to its name and legacy.

Bottle poured golden orange with a diminishing head. Smell is primarily grassy hops with some citrus hops coming through. Flavor is mainly hops with a little malt to add some balance. Finish is very bitter. Overall I really enjoyed this beer.

Picked this one up at Brawley’s Beverage in Charlotte, NC. Golden colored with a hint of amber in it. Nice head and some retention for lacing. Aroma is pine needles and grapefruit hops, nice, but not potent. Citrus and piney hoppy flavors are strong up front. Nice crisp bitterness with just a little malt backing. Not one of those in your face IIPAs and seemed a touch light for the style. Nevertheless this is quite good and enjoyable.

Pours golden orange with nice white head. Big floral hop aroma. Not overly bitter but well balanced malt hop profile, nice mouthfell with easy drinking hop flavor.

This wicked hoppy beer packs a punch like being smacked in the face with a bag of wet hops. It pours a very attractive clear amber body with a large white frothy head. Wet sticky lacing with a great retentious (is that a word?) head. Aromas of grapefruit, lemon and floral. Very dank, tart, with a nice grapefruit citrusy caracter.

The aroma is hoppy poured golden. The flavor was crispy hops. I think their hopdevil is better.

Hazy dark straw with a fleeting head. Grassy hop aroma with some grainy pale malts. Smooth medium body. Grassy hop flavor here with a taste of bready malts. Lots of hop bitterness with little hop flavor. Not my cup o’ tea.

Clear golden amber with a creamy head that lasted to the end. Floral citris aroma. Very hoppy and slghtly sweet with lingering piney aftertaste. Crisp beer, but with a very nice slippery mouthfeel. I liked this one.

This one’s name says it all!! The nose is citrus and hops oddly enough. It has a nice gold pour and slight white head. The flavor is of fine floral hops and has a nice citrus twang to it. A nice well hopped ale.
