Commercial Description:
Horace ‘Hop’ Wallop headed West a broken man. For it was a certain Miss LuLubelle Lager that had left him, thirsting for more. Drawn by wild tales of the riches of the gold mines, Hop pressed on westward. His last nickel spent on a prospecting pan, Hop's hunger and thirst got the best of him. Two fistfuls o' barley and three of some wild and wayward hops tossed in the pan with some clear water was to be his meal. But sleep overcame him and he woke to a bubbling, cacophonous concoction. Overjoyed with the beautiful ale that he had made, Hop realized the secret of the 'green gold' he had discovered in those fresh hops. Celebrated far and wide, Hop Wallop lives on in this vivid ale with his words, "hoppiness is happiness." As our annual homage to the fresh hop harvest, Hop Wallop is a fragrant experience that delights the tastebuds. Pure gold of color, this ale offers its heady bounty of hops to the adventurous of taste. Bold, bracing and surprisingly refreshing for a strong (8.5% a.b.v.) ale, Hop Wallop lives up to its name and legacy.

650 ml bottle. From the US. Thanks Brandman!
Hazy golden colour with small white head. Sweet delicious hoppy aroma. Flavour of bitter piney grapefruity hops and long bitter hoppy aftertaste. Nice Double IPA.

pours out a sunny gold with a very nice head that was very still. the body is a hazy bright oarnge. the aromas are citrusy and acidic. there is also a lot of pine in the nose with a lot of hop bitterness coming through. it is almost medium bodied with a strong yet very nice hop kick. it is citrusy and spicy . i taste a lot hops, lemon zest, pine oils, and hop resins. pretty strong on the palate, but not overpowering were it is undrinkable. a lot of flavor in this beer, and character. the atertaste is pretty dry and leaves an all hop aftertaste with just a little bit of malt backbone and sweetness.

A: Nice honey yellow color with a billowing head at the pour. The head fades to a nice ring circling the brew as it is continually fed by a steady rush of bubbles to the top. Sticky lacing is left behind as the contents disappear. A nice looking DIPA. S: Has a nice citrus aroma to it. I smell grapefruit mainly, not much else. Pretty mild compared to other reviews. T: A nice DIPA. Starts off pretty mild with a light sweetness about it. Then you are hit with the punch of hops. Sharp, acidic hops, a nice taste that is different from any other DIPA I have tried before. M: This one is pretty full bodied.

22oz bottle poured into a Duvel Tulip. A delicious looking beer . . . strong 1 inch head and a great golden body. A crisp piney taste with little grapefruit notes and a nice malt finish. The malt finish gets creamier as this one mellows out. 8.5 ABV is well hide which makes it highly drinkable.

Clear orange/red w/ a thin head that recedes into lasting scum on top. Citrus, pine and bread. A load of malt, but citrus and bread crust predominate, medium body, thin palate. Hoppy and nicely made, i.e., quaffable.

Poured into a pint glass. Hazy, yellow-gold appearance with a small, yet thick, white head. Swirl your glass to watch the beer come to life. The aroma is distinctly hoppy with a delicate sweetness. The taste is intentionally not-so-balanced with tons of hop bitterness and spice, finishing off with a big bitter bite. Medium bodied with medium lace, this brew goes down smooth with little hint to the booze it’s hiding.

Bottle from the brewery. The bright, Budlike color is fun compared to the hophead-pleasing aromas and flavors. If I knew more about evergreen scents I’d try to get more detailed than "piney" with this one. It smells sweet, medicinal, even minty. Flavor is just a little abortive - I like a beer that washes over my whole mouth, but this one misses spots, namely the middle of my tongue. Bitterness is plentiful but well balanced. Flavor utterly destroyed by Indian food - so don’t have them together.

Aroma is super hoppy with many citrus and floral notes and earthy undertones. A nice dark orange color with a short lived slightly tan head. Flavor is comfortably bitter with notes of grain. The body is medium light with a smooth mouthful. Finish is long lasting with the hop character persevering.

Pours a hazy peach with a very small white head. Aroma holds lots of nectarine, peach, clementine, evergreen, and a touch of floral hops as well. Flavor is rife with floral, pine, citrus, and a touch of earthy hop as well. Some rosemary and tarragon sneaks in as well. Not much malt character, but this is a good double IPA. Palate isn’t all that impressive, but doesn’t detract from the beer; a sessionable brew overall. Another solid effort from Victory.
