| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Feb 14, 2009 pours a nice deep amber-light ruby color with a thin light tan head. aroma of caramel and very fruity hops...sweet grapefruit and pinapple. flavor is roasty and spicier than expected and very bitter and dry. mouthfeel is nice up front but the finish dries it out a bit too much for me. joeyplush (337), Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 12, 2009 It’s a shocker that this is my 147th rating, because I’ve loved this beer for so long and it was one of my first favorite IPAs. Pours a copper/amber color, very clear for an IPA. Creamy off white head with good lacing. Aroma of pine and some citrus hops, offset with roasted malt. Flavor is mostly hoppy, with pine and grapefruit and sweet roasted malt. Nice bite in the finish. mixinnixon2000 (227), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 10, 2009 People are too biased toward west coast IPAs these days due to the in your face hops, but these east coasters deserve respect for their balance at least. HopDevil pours a dark amber with a nice white head. East coast piney/floral hops on the aroma, along with some sweet caramel malt. Flavor has nice bitter floral hops and a great combined bitter/sweet finish. Some citrus. Average mouthfeel for the style more or less. I like it. BrotherGrendel (591), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 9, 2009 a- pours a dark, amber hue with creamy white head that is mostly lasting, excellent lacing throughout
s- as the name states, the nose is dominated by earthy, piney, bitter hops with a hint of citrus and sour grapefruit
t- again, taste is of sour citrus hops balanced well with caramel and biscuit hops, strong alcohol presence
m- Medium/heavy body with adequate carbonation
d- Nice tasty IPA that is not too overwhelming, hangs well with its West Coast brethren, unique earthiness stands out well
