Tap @ Hollingshead. Find accompaniment for my sandwich, which was excellent and satisfying. Golden body topped with a white head and decent lace. Aroma was clearly hoppy and a bit different from what I’m used to (i.e. west coast IPA’s). Mouth was nice with a dry finish. Flavor was definitely not WCIPA as the floral and piny hops I’m used to were absent, as well as the strong malts. This IPA clearly showcases the hops and is intentionally imbalanced, which I didn’t really care for. It was bitter without any worthwhile excitement or personality, but refreshing and enjoyable none-the-less.

Bottle courtesy of orcasteve. Pours opaque amber color with off-white head. Aroma is hoppy, yeasty (earthy/vegetable). Taste is again, quite hoppy with a vegetable to earthly notes. Malty with light caramel. Mouthfeel and aftertaste of caramel.

On tap. Very nice hoppiness and the flavour is good. I definitely like the hoppy hint of grapefruit in the taste and smell.

Great blend of hop aroma, there’s waves of balance between earthy and citrus, cedar notes and papaya. Fluffy spongy head is like dense cottonwood and a thick layer rests lightly above the shit I just spilled it everywhere. Well I still have about half of the pint left. Bah! Solid IPA that in all its hoppy glory amps up the malt to allow for balance. Few single IPAs walk this tightrope, most settle for a session profile, especially those in a 6pack and others kick it up a bit and become an IIPA. That’s why I love this beer so much.

This light amber beer poured with a fluffy off-white head. There is a nice caramel malt base and a serious level of hopping, resulting in a smooth and tasty brew.

Pours hazy amber color with off white head. Pine hop aroma with some caramel. Pine hop bitterness with mildly sweet maltiness and some spiciness. Medium body with average carbonation and a sticky mouthfeel. Good stuff.

On tap while in Pittsburgh, PA. Very decent piny wood and melon fruit in the aroma, but for whatever reason the smell didn’t quite please me that immensely compared to the other qualities of this beer. Very pretty looking dark penny copper color, hazy, good fluffy bubble head, with quality lacing. Strong pine style hops mostly with a very pleasing, rather unique backing of sweet caramel and a variety of prickling herbal spices, rather full in body for a single ipa, with a sticky/clingy pine mixed with light citrus hop finish and great lingering aftertaste. Good balance with a very quality overall flavor profile from start to finish, an instant classic in my book.

12 oz bottle. Pours cloudy copper with a thin head and a lot of lacing. Aroma of pine, citrus, and floral notes. Flavor is similiar with a hefty malt backbone. Somewhat perfumey. Medium bodied with a dry finish. It is not a bad IPA, just a bit too malty for my taste. Seems a bit overrated to me.
