| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 18, 2008 The pour is a murky light brown with stronger red tints especially when held to the light. A remnant head and limited lacing. The smell is pronounced malt. Extra aromas include banana and definite cloves. A rich deep malt also has promise of caramel apples and a bit of brown sugar to boot. The taste is rich and bready. The malt is the first thing noticed but is quickly swept away by the intense banana and cloves mix. Very strong the flavor overwhelms and reflects long after the taste. More subtle flavors emerge though. A sweet candi or brown sugar taste is noticeable. As the beer warms, the flavors become more intense. The malt is light and limited in wheat flavor. Really the spiciness and sweeter flavors just mask any backing the beer has. The body is light to medium. I think if more of a malt presence it would balance the beer out. No real strong phenol taste for a such a higher ABV, which is good. DocHop (278), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 4, 2008 Pours a beautiful dark amber with a haze that suggests its mystery. Nice head that doesn’t last too long and leaves little behind. Nose is extremely spicy and fruity, can’t smell or taste the almost 9% alcohol. Tastes like a thick, spiced fruit drink, and yeast adds a distinct note. Very enjoyable. Vas19 (299), Maryland, USA

Fruit and yeast on the nose. Very smooth finish, creamy mouth feel. Tons of banana, some wheat and light spice. Don’t taste the alcohol, but you can feel the warmth. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 2, 2008 12oz bottle. Hazy amber with a reddish tint. Head was good sized, beige in color with some lasting lace. Nose was mostly spiced with some dark fruits in the back drop. Flavor was pretty sweet with hints of spice, caramel and yeast. One of the better Weizen Bock’s I’ve had. Gregis (1135), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 30, 2008 Bottle courtesy of kmweaver. Pours a cloudy caramel brown with a large, fluffy, beige head that laces nicely. The nose is of wheat, clove, apple, cinnamon and a touch of alcohol. Mmm... nice. Light-bodied and wheaty in texture the finish is clean and lightly dry with a bit of alcohol warmth. The flavor is of sweet, caramelized wheat malt and red apple with spicy notes of cloves, faint cinnamon and lightly peppery alcohol. This is a solid weizenbock, but it’s just a tad too hot for my tastes. Perhaps I should snag a bottle or two to see if this one would age well like Aventinus. Thanks again for sending this very interesting bonus, Ken. pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 19, 2008 Pours a standard orange with a thin even light tan head. Big fruit in this nose! Appley wheaty esters. Creamy. A hint of cinnamon? Deep caramel for the style. Smooth with low carbonation. A bit viscous. Deep caramel under some substantial wheaty esters. A bit alcoholic. Nice round malt throughout makes it all work. Like apple pie with pears in it. I may pick this up again. jasonlends (15), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 4, 2008 Pours a amber color with a head that quickly diminishes and no lacing. A good amount of sediment. It appears syrupy in the glass and has the same mouthfeel. Aroma has just a tiny hint of tartness, but mostly sweet with lots of spice and fruit, some alcohol (but not too much). Flavor is sweet with alcohol presence but not overpowering. slick mouthfeel with mostly citrusy spice dominating the palate.
