Commercial Description:
This dark amber wheat beer features fruity and spicy aromas galore. Significant strength underlies the pleasant citric appeal of this bock beer. Redolent with the flavors of harvest fruit, Moonglow typifies the traditional weizenbock-style so thoroughly enjoyed throughout Bavaria. Left unfiltered, its unique yeast strain gives Moonglow a radiance all its own.

A staple at my place during the fall. This is a very authentic representation of a Weizenbock. Banana and cloves abound the aroma and flavor. Thick, chewy mouthfeel. Very complex, yet surprisingly drinkable and thirst quenching.

Pours dark amber with a thin head. Predominately malt aroma with clove and nutmeg spices in the background. The malts predominate the taste with some banana and clove as well. There is a bit of spiciness in the after taste to round it out. Some tingling carbonation is also present.

Zippy, yeasty, tart, slightly sour. Smells exactly like it tastes. Not a modest beer. A little harsh. Not a beer for me, but a top-quality brew.

12 oz. bottle. Pours cloudy amber with gold hues. Thick, white cream head. big ol’ weizenbock nose, touch of banana with big carmel maltiness. Thick, creamy mouthfeel with bubblegum and banana notes, then a HUGE kick of alcohol. Muddled in there somewhere is a clove and ginger spiciness. Can’t get over the alcohol. It seems everpresent, giving it this huge bite at the end that sorta makes you cringe, but in a good way, like if you found out that World of Warcraft was actually a "world" and you really were a "dark elf incarnation of Mr. T". I digress. This isn’t a bad beer, just needed to round out a bit. There’s a lot going on in there, and its unfortunate that the alcohol masks it and makes you really dig. I pity it, like a fool.

Bottle from the rip and run. Thanks to whomever tipped the six pack to the floor enabling me to purchase this as a single from Apu. It on clearance, one dollah" Nose is wheat-beerific. some light spiceness as well. Medium body is smooth and robust. finish is all wheat malt. Cloudy amber brwn in the glass. a bit on thte average side for me from Victory.

Fruity aroma with some spice and honey. Sweet dark fruity flavor with a spiced finish. Smooth, medium bodied mouth feel. Will definately have this one again.

Thick dark orange color with big off-white head. Fruity with notes of honey on the nose. Somewhat sweet up front, then it turns to a nice sour that was great. Finish was crisp and clean.

THOUGHTS: A truely different beer. While I think Victory makes some good beers, I’m not a huge fan, but this beer goes beyond good to great. Hides alc incredibly well. The yeast is very nice. The flavors in this one were not always the ones I am most pleased with, but here they all worked together to make a great beer. It was almost like a barley wine and a dunkleweizen had a baby. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a cloudy, almost glowing, medium orangish brown with a small to average, off-white head that kept a thin sheet. The aroma was lighlty yeasty with red wine, honey, some fruitiness and a lot of spice a little alcohol and light milk chocolate. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and moderately acidic, while the finish was moderately sweet and sour. The flavors were red wine, spice, some yeast, slight chocolate, dark fruit, wheat and a little more yeast. The medium body was somewhat creamy with fizzy carbonation and a lighlty astringent and lightly astringent and somewhat chalky finish.
