Commercial Description:
This dark amber wheat beer features fruity and spicy aromas galore. Significant strength underlies the pleasant citric appeal of this bock beer. Redolent with the flavors of harvest fruit, Moonglow typifies the traditional weizenbock-style so thoroughly enjoyed throughout Bavaria. Left unfiltered, its unique yeast strain gives Moonglow a radiance all its own.

Bottle from axilla; bottled on Aug 25, 05. Thanks much! The beer pours to a really hazy, likely murky amber bronze body with a thick, dense, and creamy beige head. The aroma is hugely banana and wheat bread. It smells so much like fresh bananas, its insane. It’s like bananas were used in the fermentation. There’s also some light yeasts and vanilla. Can you say banana bread? Unreal! The flavor is dramatically different from the aroma. I don’t get any banana in the flavor. Instead, I get a toasted malt and light clove. Thinking to recent wheat-based beers, it’s like they used the toasted sprouts from Bells wheat series, but left a lot of the other stuff out. Light spices and ever so light rauch smokeyness. Malty, yes. Distinguished, no. But, still, it is good. Anyway, the palate is moderately thick and creamy. Feels pretty good and goes down smoothly. Lightly chewy. A good brew from Victory! As it warms, the flavor improves enough to re-rate.

A unique beer. I’ve never had a beer in which the alcohol played such a prominent role in the development of the flavor profile, instead of working against it. Very interesting stuff. The typical wheat beer characteristics (bready, yeasty, banana, spice) ride on top of the alcohol. Also has a distinct sticky sweetness to it. Very nice, quality beer perfect for the fall season.

A deep, copper/caramel with opaque hazing and a thin, tan film after a soda-pop fizz-down. Aroma was a full frontal assault of clove oil and ripe banana... sour & bready with rum notes. Alcohol turns overbearing late. Richly flavored with lingering clove over a stable wheat base. Creamy in the mouth with lilting spiciness to finish and pleasant smokiness throughout. Many more complexities than I was expecting.

A walk on the wild side. I found this beer in the "Bargain Bin" of a store that may not have actively carried it for years. A fun surprise though. Pours a soup murky apple cider and cherry juice pour, with flecks of light and dark yeast. Head is tall and orange tinted. Aroma is reserved, yet loaded with fresh warm alcohol, over french pears sauteed with butter. Theres a bready yeast background, typical of the style. Flavor is interesting, a rich strong run of bright fruit alcohol, followed by a mouthful of warm bread, sugary malt and spicy yeast. The beer almost starts out like a tart fruit beer, with some of those sour notes, but then moves into the typical cloying wheat and bock characters. Very intersting. I think this beer has really picked up something with time. Delicious. The alcohol is a little hot right of the bat, but also really carries the beer. I don’t really detect any off notes, just some really matured flavors, nothing indicative of oxidation or being light struck. Palate lacks a little as it runs off fast, but leaves a burnt sugar appeal at the end.

Pours a dark amber with a big beige head. Flavor is sweet and fruity. A very different style of beer but worth a try.

A murky, fruity, deceptively strong brew and a favorite of mine. The aroma mixes dark malt, clove, mysterious spices and a bit of citrus. The flavor is similar, with a slight tartness that is perfect for these fall evenings.

Murky rusty brown, with some light tan head. Nose is wheat, alcohol, spice, and some dark malts. Taste begins very malty, with a nice touch of sweetness. Next, wheat pushes the malt aside to become the other major element. Peaches peaches and peaches, oh my, what a nice touch. Also making an appearance, are spices, apples, and brown sugar. Bananas and light hops linger on the tongue, with only the slightest tinge of EtOH. Never too sweet. Deceptively dangerous at 8.7%, as this stuff seems to go down quickly. The first time Victory has impressed me. Worthy as an Aventinus competitor.

Thanks to gputty for this Victory. pours a cloudy brown, off white head. Fruity nose, hops and wheat present, too. Wonderful flavor, more of the wheat comes through as it warms. I could drink quite a bit of this (but the 8.7% may catch up quickly).
