Commercial Description:
This dark amber wheat beer features fruity and spicy aromas galore. Significant strength underlies the pleasant citric appeal of this bock beer. Redolent with the flavors of harvest fruit, Moonglow typifies the traditional weizenbock-style so thoroughly enjoyed throughout Bavaria. Left unfiltered, its unique yeast strain gives Moonglow a radiance all its own.

On tap at Victory. Pours an almost a cloudy brown, looked like apple cider with a small tan head. Aroma of darker fruits and apple cider. Initial taste is almost like cough syrup like. Palate is very thick. I think the initial cough syrup taste and feel may have been due to the cold temp it was served at and the thicker feel. As it warmed up I actually started feeling more of an apple cider taste with an alcohol burn on the tongue. Some citrus in the flavor as well. 6-4-6-3-14 Re-rate 10/14/2006. It has been a while since I last had this and my palate has expanded quite a bit. This one deserves a re-rate. Pours a hazy brown amber with an average light tan creamy lacing head that sustained. Aroma of banana, yeast, malt, kind of spicy well done weizen bock. Flavors of the same with some tart wheat, banana, citrus and toast.

Found this in the back of my frig so it’s aged a bit. Very thin head that does cling to the side of the glass. Fantastic fruity aroma., amber color, moderate body. Can taste the alcohol and a spicy end. A very good beer!

First Weizen Bock I’ve had and I must say this is pretty interesting. Has those fruity wheat beer notes but then some bite of a bock. Alcohol is a little noticeable. Definitely worth a try. Rerate: still think the alcohol is very noticeable. But some rich malts and yeast spices. Really silky texture despite being super carbonated.

Pours a cloudy orange amber color with a thin white head. Very appealing aroma of fruits, bubblegum, wheat and spices. Very good flavor of candy, bubble gum, fruits, wheat and spices. The body is medium with a slick, creamy texture and moderate carbonation. This is a solid example of the style.

Fruity, spicy, cloudy amber. Very good aftertaste worked well with pizza. Above average for the little experience I have had with the style. Bit nauseating yeast.

Bottle. Cloudy amber pour with decent head. Usually nice balance of banans and cloves, though the last bottle I had was maybe a little old and a little winey. Some nice spices in there too. Enjoyable beer - but I wonder how well it will hold up in a cellar.

Cloudy reddish brown with smooth, cream head. The taste is like it might be a little old, but no one else commented on that. Caramel, cinnamon, old bananas and clove. Obviously a much bigger beer than a regular hefe.
