Commercial Description:
This dark amber wheat beer features fruity and spicy aromas galore. Significant strength underlies the pleasant citric appeal of this bock beer. Redolent with the flavors of harvest fruit, Moonglow typifies the traditional weizenbock-style so thoroughly enjoyed throughout Bavaria. Left unfiltered, its unique yeast strain gives Moonglow a radiance all its own.

Hazy orange pour with a light yellow-tan head. Very nice smell with all sorts of fruits (peach, lemon), a bunch of wheat and yeast. Nice bananaish flavor with some peach, lemon, wheat, clove and I detect some coriander as well. Very flavorful and tasty brew, another winner from Victory.

Enjoyed via 12oz bottle. Dark tan in appearance. Aroma is fruity, not unlike a traditional Bavarian Weizen, but with a nice malt note. Flavor is full on the palate; fruity and sweet, without being cloying. Overall, an enjoyable experience.

Pours a very hazy, muddy, orangey, copper color with a moderately full, yellowish-beige, creamy, fluffy head which is fairly lasting and leaves tight, foamy lace. Nose is great, one of the best wheats I’ve smelled; lots of estery yeast with bananas and peach notes, clove dominating, undertones of spices (nutmeg, coriander, allspice), some orange zest, maybe even some faint floral and brown sugar. Flavor is dominated by the banana yeast esters, but underneath lies, cloves, peach skins, faint orange zest, faint nutmeg and coriander, and light sweet wheat breads. Palate is perfect for the style; more than medium, lightly chewy, round, and nearly lively. Somewhat refreshing but still sweet and just glimpses of dryness. Finishes fairly long with clove, light wheat, and lingering bananas and orange zest. One of the better examples of the style retaining refreshing qualities to match complexities and malt notes. Not Schneider Aventinus, but certainly better than most and the ABV was unnoticable.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a decent sized tan head. Aroma is malt, yeast, light fruit, alcohol. Flavor is light banana, caramel, alcohol, bitter hops, spice. Palate is medium bodied, medium carbonation, finished on the sweet side. Solid, though not great.

Bottle. Rich deep copper and clear with lots of rising bubbles. Yeasty esters, aromatically fruity and major banana. Oily mouthfeel, low carbonation. Lingering yeasty sweetness. A lovely, fun fruity and unique beer that shares my nickname!

12oz bottle poured into a weizen glass. This is very nice looking dark orange, decent rocky head, looks great. Smells very fruity, spicy and malty. Taste is nice fruit and malt, surprisingly good stuff. This is one of the better beers that I have had from Victory. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 10-26-2008 22:14:34

nice hazy deep caramel color with a thick foamy light tan head. aroma is lightly spicy...clove... with a hint of banana but too much alcohol in the aroma. flavor used to be so much better but this is over hopped for the style, under spicy, and muddled. something in the flavor reminds me of fish. mouthfeel is a bit thin and the fishy flavor lingers in the aftertaste. what happened to the moonglow that i had years ago?
