| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 29, 2008 Delicious bottle of beer! Pours a cloudy reddish brown color with a nice frothy of white head that diminishes pretty quickly. Aroma of apple cider, caramel, malt and some nice juicy hop notes. Flavor is very well integrated with sweet malt, fruitiness, spicy hops and caramel. Very good beer. Bells third coast is better, but not by a whole lot. Wasatch (270), Layton, Utah, USA

Pours a very nice dark amber color with some carbonation and a small head, nice lacing afterwards. Scents of malts, sweet fruits, tarty fruits as well. Very nice taste, sweet, but with little bite at the end. The alcohol is hidden very very well. Medium body. So far this is the best barleywine I’ve had, because of the very well hidden alcohol content be careful, you will be looking up at the MOON in a horizontal position, LOL

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 18, 2008 2007 bottle. Cloudy, reddish orange body that lightly sparkles is topped with a thin, yellow-orange head that becomes a ring and does not lace. Mouth is fullish with light, foamy carbonation for a semi-dry finish. Malty flavor of dark, fermented fruit, pure sugar, cotton candy, roasted caramel malts, and lots of woody, piney hops for a bitter-sweet, dry, and earthy finish. Mild aroma of caramel, blush wine and musk. ajm (914), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Oct 18, 2008 I was floored by this. It’s been in and out of my fridge from roommates and visitors but never sat down and tried it till tonight. Bottle from Lone Hill. The aroma is very full, caramelized, roasty. The flavors, though, shapeshift and dance like it’s three beers at once! Melon, butter, dark raisins, wood, smoke, age and goodness. Man, what a complex, delightful, smooth-drinking beer. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 13, 2008 Aroma is of dark spice and alcohol. It’s appearance is a dark reddish brown, with a thin off white collar. It’s flavor is spiced, with some dark fruits likely raisins, and definitely alcohol. It’s a great sipper for a cold night or a great nightcap, a bit full from drinking, but good smoothness for a monster beverage. DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 6, 2008 (Bottle). Intense sweet aroma of hops, citrus, alcohol. Dark reddish brown body, thin light tan head. Flavor is spicy and medium licorice sweet, also some fruits and definite alcohol. Pleasant enough to sip slowly over an evening, but one would need to be prepared for the intensity. rman18 (201), South Amboy, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 5, 2008 I had this at the Durham World Beer Festival. It was good... poured dark amber with a small head. Smelled of hops and tasted like malt with hops. I am not sure of the alcohol content but it had some kick to it. I would have it again. allfreej (358), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 20, 2008 Bottled. Light-brown diminishing head, little lace, some tears. Clear copper pour. Heavy, sweet malt aroma, resin notes, toffee, alcohol, raisins. Full, slightly sticky mouthfeel, pleasantly carbonated, hop bitter finish. Flavor was long, heavy, and malty. An example of an American Barley Wine lifted straight from the style guidelines themselves!
