Fruity, spicy, malty, some hop bitterness with a alcohol burn. Wow! this beer is strong! Not really my type of beer but I must give cedit when it is due. This is a nice brew! budweiserblows (31), Asheville, North Carolina, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Apr 1, 2008 Freaking incredible. There’s really nothing wrong with it at all. Full bodied flavor which is incredibly satisfying. Flavor completely masks the elevated level of alcohol. princesslala (37), North Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 30, 2008 The beer pours a cloudy amber with a foamy cream-colored head. It has a clean, citrusy smell with a hint of caramel malts. It has a full, citrusy flavor with just the right amount of malty sweetness to balance it out. It is deceptively smooth for a beer with such a high ABV. I would want to drink this beer with a beef stew or a nice steak dinner. Carl99Fan (186), Suwanee, Georgia, USA

Everything I thought it would be. Not much wrong with it. hoptimus (50), Grand Island, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 27, 2008 growler. Beautiful cloudy reddish-brown appearance, very small white head. Smells of pine, fruit and alcohol. Fruity, but not as sweet as I expected, some alcohol present. Very warming finish that lingers. Nice hop character that is especially apparent in the aftertaste, but this brew is not overly hopped...nice malt balance. Excellent brew. JEB12345 (13), Woodstock, Georgia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 24, 2008 Tap. See through dark brown color. Tan head. Aroma of alcohol and fruit. Has a full bodies taste of fruit though could not place it. A woody hoppy finish. Good beer. Hangover (765), Atlanta, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 21, 2008 Beautiful appearance. Garnet pour, nice lasting tan/white head. Dark fruit, alcohol and a strong licorice aroma. Full bodied. Smooth mouthfeel with some prickly carbonation. This is a definite warming beer and you feel it well past the finish. Dark fruit and woodsy notes dominate the flavor with some nice aromatic hops. It’s just freaking good no doubt. hoplover406 (204), Crofton, Maryland, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 20, 2008 Bottle. 2005 vintage. Looks like a great Barley Wine with its beautiful ruby and nut brown body and thin tan head. There are some pretty good sized floaties in here. Sweet, woody and malt on the nose with licorice, alcohol and molasses also. Can taste the hops on the finish, but nothing in the aroma. Creamy and full bodied. After it has been out for about two and a half hours the alcohol is much more prominent. It goes from caramel to alcohol to a bitter finish then the warming sticks around longer than the hop bite. This is a great barley wine that should not be taken lightly.
