Flavor itself has an absolute "zip" that hits the sides of the taste buds and offers a long, gentle finish with toasty, cinnamon notes and hints of citrus, pear, burnt coffee.
Ideal as a sipping barley wine, a braised pork dish with dill potatoes would really hit the spot. WallyWalrus (205), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 5, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a clear ruby-red with excellent carbonation and a thin brownish head. Aroma is rich and velvety, with distinct notes of roasted malt, caramel, dark fruit, and spices. Taste is medium-bodied and malty, with a chalky initial flavor of malt opening up into a rich finish of dark fruit, syrupy hops, caramel, and a noticeable boozy kick. An excellent sipper for a cold winter’s day. inkubus27 (247), Highland, Indiana, USA

It’s a great barleywine, the only thing i disliked about it was the harsh finish. It’s has an alcoholic and harsh finish that i didn’t care for. IPAGargoyleGuy (139), Troy, NY, New York, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Mar 5, 2008 One of my favorites. Sweet and malty, with a fruity hops finish. This beer has a long flavor run, is very thick and creamy, and hides its alcohol well. mhelgason (495), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 1, 2008 Pours an clear amaber color. Aromas of dark malts, caramel, dark fruits and some piney hops. Flavor is similiar to the aroma, lots of malt and some sweet dark fruits, molasses and brown sugar. very well balanced brew. nimbleprop (843), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 29, 2008 Pours a translucent deep copper brown with a slightly creamy slightly brown head that settled into a thin layer atop the brew. Smells very inviting, deep, dark sugar, sweet and sticky fruits, and vanilla. Flavor is heavy n the oak and wood with a fruity, brandy like flavor as well. Finish is sticky and heavy that really shows the heavy alcohol. I have a feeling I’ll be horizontal 20 minutes after finishing my glass... dwyerpg (2529), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
