Ty5592 (1015), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 25, 2007 I CAN"T believe I haven’t rated this yet as I ’ve had it MANY times livin’ in PA and all.... Pretty amber color with nice sized head. Light malty sweet hoppy aroma. The taste is fantastic. Sweet , fruity, and, malty with excellent balance between the hops and malts. obguthr (986), Poquoson, Virginia, USA Sep 23, 2007 Floral pineapple aroma with toffee undertones. Cloudy copper color with a medium yellow head. Sweet, somewhat viscous, flavorful. Tastes mainly of horehound, but smoke and grapefruit is there too to a much lesser degree. Becomes more balanced during warming. Delayed, but good hop finish. ABV is hardly noticeable. Naven (864), Poway, California, USA Sep 23, 2007 12 oz bottle from JB175. I have seen this around town in select stores, but have yet to try it. Fairly light aroma, although I drank this rather cold. Fruity, malty and hoppy. The balance between the hops and malt is pretty impressive. Very drinkable and dangerous. luv2brew (177), Chesterfield, Virginia, USA Sep 22, 2007 Pours a nice caramel brown with a fluffy white head.Smells of thick sweet malt and a deep dark fruit. This beer is malty without question and it is the perfect balance of malt and hops. The alcohol is there, but doesn’t really stand out. There is a bitterness that I pick up in the middle that kind of slowly fades until the end. It is chewy and it has just enough hops to tie everything together. On a cold night this is what you’re looking for. badlizard (2325), Berkeley, California, USA Sep 16, 2007 350 ml bottle from Bevmo. Hazy mahogany brown with a fizzy white head. Aroma of caramel and chocolate covered fruit. Interesting fruit, sugar, and pine taste transitioning to a good bitter bite, and finishing with a pleasant alcoholic warmth. Saarlander (1577), Saarlouis, Germany Sep 16, 2007 Sampled a few times now, and I like it more every time!! 10.5 % alc is well hidden! Easy, warming drinker, lots of malt aroma, some fruity, malt flavor, slight hops, but very balanced, got I love this brew! Thanks to Lou18 for the 2005 bottle! Yum! cmr1517 (35), New Haven, Indiana, USA Sep 14, 2007 bottle shared with the man [bdigi66]. One the best barley wines I have sampled. Wow plenty of hops but you know what, there can never be enough hops. Perfect sweetness that just amazed me. Loved it! patrick767 (2016), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Sep 3, 2007 bottle shared by bdigi66 - Pours dark amber with just a little foam. The aroma is mainly sweet malts. The flavor has some nice complexity and balance with sweet malts, plenty of hops, and some dark fruitiness creeping in there. Full bodied and finishing on the dry side, this barley wine is very good.
