Commercial Description:
Luxuriously rich in character, this warming winter ale delivers over 10% alcohol in an oh-so-seductive manner. Deliciously fruity flavors lie under a bracing hop nose.

2/12/09 sweetness, fruit, and rich. no alcohol noted in aroma. chewy with plentiful carbonation. warming, sweet, and nice hops both bitter and citrus. solid.

10/11/2007 bottle poured into a snifter, beautiful ruby amber in color with good carbonation for a barley wine and a thin layer of frothy head on the beer. smell is alcohol, sweet, dark fruit, caramel, and malt. if the smell is indication of the taste then this is going to be real good. medium thick on the mouth feel, has a stickiness from the sweetness, and the alcohol lets you know it is not fooling around. really a good balance of sweetness and bitter, hops give a nice bite and the malts smooth the whole thing out.

pours ruby-amber with a tan head. aroma is citrus, some pine, some fruit. taste of some apricot, grapefruit, caramel, vanilla, & some pepper. a little bitter, a little sweet. mouthfeel is medium-thick bodied with a little stickiness. alcohol comes through gently on the finish with a nice warming sensation. nice bitter hops aftertaste. though BW’s aren’t my favorite, this one is pretty tasty, would buy again.

I CAN"T believe I haven’t rated this yet as I ’ve had it MANY times livin’ in PA and all.... Pretty amber color with nice sized head. Light malty sweet hoppy aroma. The taste is fantastic. Sweet , fruity, and, malty with excellent balance between the hops and malts.

Floral pineapple aroma with toffee undertones. Cloudy copper color with a medium yellow head. Sweet, somewhat viscous, flavorful. Tastes mainly of horehound, but smoke and grapefruit is there too to a much lesser degree. Becomes more balanced during warming. Delayed, but good hop finish. ABV is hardly noticeable.

12 oz bottle from JB175. I have seen this around town in select stores, but have yet to try it. Fairly light aroma, although I drank this rather cold. Fruity, malty and hoppy. The balance between the hops and malt is pretty impressive. Very drinkable and dangerous.

Pours a nice caramel brown with a fluffy white head.Smells of thick sweet malt and a deep dark fruit. This beer is malty without question and it is the perfect balance of malt and hops. The alcohol is there, but doesn’t really stand out. There is a bitterness that I pick up in the middle that kind of slowly fades until the end. It is chewy and it has just enough hops to tie everything together. On a cold night this is what you’re looking for.
