| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Nov 2, 2007 (I’m being told this in an ’05 bottle.)
Appearance: Pours a clearish, orangey-brown body with a medium, off-white head.
Smell: Heavy caramel malt aroma with notes of brown sugar, honey, and a spiced tangerine fruitiness.
Taste: Succulent sweet taste of caramel and honey. Hint of brown sugar. Bright tangerine marmalade flavor jumps in. Any hop bitterness has long since faded (now I’m being told it may be a bit older). Boozey, surprisingly fruity finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Med carbonation. Approaching syrupy.
Drinkability: A lovely barleywine (regardless of how it may or may not be) with a luscious sweetness that only Wilford Brimley could hate. 1FastSTi (2568), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA

Clear amber/brown body with visible carbonation. Excellent lacing. The aroma is very hoppy. Citrus and malts. Maris Otter malts? The flavor is a nice malt. Also Maris Otter? Nice zesty citrus hops and oranges. Spices. The palate is creamy, the 11% is hidden well, medium body. Nice feel. This is a really good barleywine. Very recommended. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 10, 2003 Very sweet and fruity at first sniff. Caramel and vanilla, mellow and malty. No hops. Bit of alcohol and some other nice aroma I can’t name. Ruby-brown clear with thin veil of tan lacing head. Smooth and silky. Like velvet in your mouth. Low carb and heavy body. Starts sweet and malty, can feel alcohol on your tongue like a red wine. Vanilla, caramel, spicy/peppery. Mellowness desists and some of the hops comes through in a sweet and slightly bitter finish. Nutty after - dry. Warms the belly. A really nice beer and barley wine. Bockyhorsey (2546), Mesa, Arizona, USA

Barley wheat flavor and some alcohol punch. Definently a body warmer. Good thing it won’t break 100 today need some water for hydraysion. dwyerpg (2537), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

| 4.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Dec 6, 2002 Strong nose of figs and alcohol, brandy-like. Beautiful ruby-brown color and a low, tight head. Powerful malty taste laced with fruity (dates, black cherries) and spicy (pepper) flavors. Clean, silky palette - man this is smooth. Like a port wine, but better because it is beer. Amazing stuff! jgb9348 (2508), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 19, 2003 Dark brown colour with hazyness....just like a great barley wine. Great sweet smell with hints of banana, and other fruits. Also a slight hoppyness in the smell arises. Full-bodied beer with a great malty flavour. A sweet, complex and full-bodied taste leads to a great beer! More full-bodied and complex than Anchor's Old Foghorn and a great overall beer! GregClow (2496), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 5, 2003 Pours a hazy orangey-red with very little head. Aroma of floral honey, caramel-malt and pine. Flavour starts in nice and sweet, with dark honey and mild citrus notes in the round middle, and a medicinal tang of hops to finish. A potent brew for a cold winter night.
