Feb 26, 2006 Updated: Mar 12, 2006Thanks to Fantomas for the trade. Bottled Dec. 9, 2005. Clear dark amber/brown. Hissing soda-like tan head quickly disappears into thin air. Looks dangerous. Big floral, resinous hops and a touch of sweet malt and alcohol - aroma. Dark fruits and sweet malt throughout with big hops in the finish, accompanied by subtle alcohol and werther’s candy. Aftertaste is hopped werther’s. Full, balanced body. Drinks very easy for 11%. Hop presence grows as it warms adding some citrus notes. Would pair nice with a light cigar. Excellent.

Aug 12, 2005 Pours an amber copper color with a thin cream colored head. Smells of sweet molasses,dark fruit, and hops. Taste is sweet,quite warm with alcohol noticeable after sipping, and quite hoppy. Excellent barley wine, yet very strong !!

Jul 21, 2008 Bottle, most recent release. Aroma has some peachy/mango notes that seem to come from otherwise faded hops, many other tropical and red fruits all abound. Flavor malty, malty, malty, strong, fleshy fruits continue to shine. Full full bodied malty goodness. Excellent.

Aug 4, 2009 12oz bottle into a snifter. Aroma is metal, dust, and sweet. Flavor is huge sweet with a touch of alcohol and significant hoppage. Not bad, but I didn’t think it was as good as some American barley wines.

Mar 22, 2003 pours amber, tight off white head. big hops, citrus and cararmel on th nose. very nice mix of orangy fruitiness, butter, tangy hops and mild alcohol. very nice.

Jan 28, 2003 Full creamy head, firey brown. Light alcohol tickles the nose, while soft juicy pears and oranges sqeeze freshly picked hop leaves. Smooth, creamy, silky. . . dry hoppy finish, with lingering whisps of alcohol, grapefruit and sweet caramel. Amazing.

Jun 1, 2007 Bottle. 12/29/11 batch. Pours deep red amber. Rich creamy brown/white head. Beautiful lacing. Quite sweet and rich malt on the nose. Toffee, caramel. Hit of bread (yeast). Just a tad boozy. Fairly creamy on the palate. Sweet malt at first then turning to an earthy (yeasty?) dryness. Finishes dry and mildly alcohol-y. Revisit ina few years.

Sep 17, 2005 Tried to find something a little special for #400. big fruit malt aroma, almost like a Belgian but hoppier, big swish of rich malt and friut in the taste with a hoppy bitter backbite. Wonderful sipper. glad to hear Victory will soon be available in Milwaukee and I wont have to depend on FedEx to get me fresh beer
