Commercial Description:
Luxuriously rich in character, this warming winter ale delivers over 10% alcohol in an oh-so-seductive manner. Deliciously fruity flavors lie under a bracing hop nose.

Magenta-amber in color. Caramel, brandyish aroma with a generous side of piney, kind of minty hops. Tastes of citrus, cough medicine, sweet maple and wood. It’s strange and kind of interesting how hoppy it is, but I can’t really decide if that’s likeable or not. Strikingly underdeveloped.

12 oz. bottle - guessing the 08/09 batch; clear, dark amber with quickly fading tan head; quite a sweet, hoppy nose with mild fruit and juice-like aromas; super thin body with dry finish; alcohol is there, but not too hot; flavors are musky with apples and almost watered down brandy kind of flavor profile; not bad, but just not my kind of BW

Ruby brown beer with a thick rocky white head and great lacing throughout.. Aroma reminds me of candied fruits and hints that this beer will be very sweet. The flavor is not as sweet as I thought it might be but there is a strong malt character and a great warming feeling as it goes down. Tasty barleywine.

Bottled 11/8/03. Small off-white head. Clear body with a medium orange-red color. Light aroma of flowery/perfume hops, cherry, apple. Seems like a light flavor also... with some dark fruit, brandy, and honey. Slightly creamy/syrupy texture. Alcohol is very well masked. Very well balanced to me, nice thickness.

BONUS from the RealBastard, (Thanks Brent!) Pours typical BW opaque mahogony with a tight bubbled head that quickly dissipates to a halo. Nose is rich and malty with a bit of bready yeast in there too. Flavor is a bit tart, but at the same time dried fruit, caramel and molasses, along with a smooth yeasty, almost spice influence. Nice finish of dried fruit and brown sugar. Very good brew.

Very clear amber and exceptionally weak head. Nice aroma, candylike with notes of caramel. The flavor was a bit too overpowering though, I didn’t think that this was nearly as good as the other top 10’s.

Rating #700! I’m obsessed with this stuff but still haven’t gone as far as BJCPing it or quitting my day job or whatnot. What can I say, I’m a maverick I guess. Anyway, back to O.H. Bottle from Wegman’s in Princeton, NJ. Drank it at 10am while my little sister was graduating college (pure class, I know). The stuff is damn good. Made Katie Couric’s speech much better, that’s for sure. Copper color with a big beige head. Sweet caramel malt on the aroma with dark fruits. Aroma is loads of caramel malt, raisin, plum, fig, spices, brown sugar, and of course alcohol. Smooth, full, and syrupy palate that really hit the spot on a crisp New Jersey spring morning. A winner - or "victory" if you will. Zing!
