Oct 1, 2006 Bottle. Pours thick and hazy dull red/amber with a thin head. Candy like aroma, fruity and hoppy. Big malt and caramel flavor, sweet and hoppy. Like sucking on a barly wine lolly pop. The alcohol is not too prominent but is noticable. Mellow bitterness.

Mar 10, 2005 (bottle 12/29/04) deep amber with almost no head. Aroma is fruity with definite alcohol. Fairly well balanced, fruity, solid malt backbone with a hops finish.

Mar 26, 2009 2008 bottle. Thanks Secret Santa! Nice dusty, smooth, oxidized, malt forward with notes of cherry. Thin tawny notes, nice and married after a year. Had next to the 2009 and it’s much better with a year on it, I bought a case to age myself.

Jun 30, 2004 Bottled date: Jan 23, 2004. Deep amber color with a nice light brown head. Head is mostly diminishing except for a thin ring round the edge of the glass and a light film in the middle. Big caramel malts in the aroma, along with Red Delicious apples, honeycomb, dates, and a touch of alcohol. Thick, chewy flavor, with more Red Delicious apples and sweet caramel malts. Juicy raisins in the finish. Full bodied and delicious. Alcohol is very well hidden in the flavor, and is only detectible in the immediate aftertaste.

Feb 22, 2009 Bottle... Poured deep burgundy in tone with a soft, beige head. Aroma of fruit, pine, hops and bread. Insanely smooth palate, which really allowed the alcohol notes (almost like whiskey in semblance) to be unobtrusive. Flavors of raisins and other fruit, a little bit of hop bitterness but the sweet, malted grains were dominant with their caramel and oak/wood-like characteristics. Finished dry but also smooth and sweet allowing me to crave for more.

May 11, 2006 Dark almost opaque ruby color with a small tan head. Aroma of dark fruits with a little hops. Flavor of dark fruits, heavy malt and a little chocolate and hops.

Dec 17, 2002 This beer is incredible! The alcohol is masked very well by the sweetness, and it smells like candy. Very complex and extremely delightful.

Jul 9, 2007 Updated: Jan 28, 2008Bottle, enjoy by Dec 12, 2011. Pours with a very small creamy head. The flavor is that of a light hoppy and citrus brew, to be frankly, mild barley wine beer. Warms completely. My bottle says 11%, so I don’t know if they’ve changed the brew since then. I think I’m gonna get another one and let it age a few years!
Update: Bottle drunk 01/28/08, bottled 12/14/04. Oh wow. Aroma is mellowed greatly. Notes of vanilla, sweet, molasses. Flavor was mild vanilla, with a subtle maple and slightly sweet finish. Alcohol taste was practically non-existent for a 11% beer. Ages very well.
