Medium big texture, medium got hoppy bitter notes. Not to much just enough. Nicely balanced brew. Surprisingly light for such big beer. Decently crafted, yet I do not see reason to rave about. jerc (3947), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Dark amber brown with a tiny beige head. Surprisingly hoppy aroma still with moderate malt as well. Dangerously drinkable, alcohol is even more subdued than when fresh. Not as robust and hoppy as the younger versions but pleasing. Medium to full bodied palate. Great to try this aged! Thanks Eric! 7/3/7/4/15<P>Original RatingRated April 2004. Bottled Nov 02. Slight amount of floaties doesn’t mar the appeal of this orangey amber bodied brew with its wee head. Big hoppy aroma leads into a strongly hoppy bitterness that is very pleasantly balanced by a sweet malty alcohol foundation. Finishes with a bitter ending that shows a bit more of its alcoholic potentcy than it had previously. Palate is very nice. Best barley wine I have had so far, and yet another quality brew from Victory. 8/3/8/4/17 beerguy101 (3946), Newark, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 8, 2003 Medium gold color. Small head. Aroma is hoppy with a touch of malts. A medium bodied barleywine. Malts are soft and thick. Hops are floral, soft and citrusy. Well balanced. Very tasty barleywine. Hides the 11% alcohol very well. It not one of those west coast in-your-face barley wines, but it definitely in the ‘ oh yeah it’s a barley wine’ family. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter, with a touch of alcohol oiliness. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | May 16, 2006 This 1/11/05 bottled brew from Flemdawg poured a small sized head of light tan colored foamy finely sized bubbles that left behind a transparent brown colored body and a poor lacing. The aroma was malty hoppy vinous. The mouth feel was vinous and very tingly from start to finish. The flavor contained vinous malt hop dough notes and was very good. All-in-all, quite a good beer that gave me the beer shivers! And, any beer that can do that is a keeper! Grovlam (3810), Copenhagen, Denmark

Courtesy of Jeppe [Amager – Mikkeller Brew session @ Amager Bryghus] Small beige creamy head that mostly diminished. Fair lacework. Cloudy amber color. Bread, toffee, berries, wood, vanilla, alcohol. Full bodied with a soft carbonation and a hint of dry texture. Moderated balanced sweet and bitter flavour. I think the hops had mellow down somewhat in this bottle. Somewhat floral bitter accent. Excellent and once again thanks to Jeppe! Braudog (3770), Dayton, Ohio, USA

Strong candied licorice. Bitter bite. I loved the bartender: "Have you had it before?" like he wanted to make sure he knew what I was getting into. Got even better as it warmed up. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 9, 2005 (Bottled) Hazy dark orange color with a smallish, tight and lacy head. Very strong, malty and port-wineous aroma with dried fruit, hops and a hint of warm alcohol. Very malty, sweetish, nicely and strongly aromatic-hoppy flavor with orange-peel and mint hints. Alcohol is well hidden. Slicky, very warming and smooth, wineous palate with soft carbonation. A very nice, aromatic-hoppy, balanced barley wine, although it’s nothing spectacular.
