The taste is very good. Some bready qualities mixed with caramel touches. Not much on the bittering side but good neutral (or if not more earthy complexity) taste. No oily tastes and very smooth and easy to drink. Decent undertones, with plums being the major notice. A bit of a dry aftertaste that isn’t too overbearing. A fantastic beer. polomagnifico (534), Saginaw, Michigan, USA

Average sized off-white head that mostly diminished and left virtually no lace. Deep red amber hue. Flavor is sweet caramel, ripe dark fruit, red wine, alcohol, and some citrus hop bitterness on the finish. Med/full bodied with soft carbonation. Very good barley wine, one of the best. This brew made me stop and take a serious look at barley wines and that makes it special to me, just fantastic. beertime (23), Minnesota, USA

Just bought a 6 pack for $11.99 and feel like going back for more. This beer has an excellent hop malt balance that would only get better with age. I taste a citrus flavor maybe grapefruit in the middle. The beer starts out sweet but finishes with more of an alcohol flavor. Very drinkable for 10%+. I need to get back to the liqour store before it is to late. OSLO (826), Perth, Australia

Aroma is strawberry jam, alcohol, caramel--overall quite sweet. Taste is really malty up front with caramel and some alcohol present. Medium-thick mouthfeel and smooth. Slightly dry finish that could be a little longer. A really good beer that could become amazing with some age. Old Rating: 9/4/8/4/18=4.3. Re-Rate: ’06 on tap in Feb. ’09. Amazing. Simply amazing. Truly one of the best barley wines that I have ever had. The age has done wonders, as it brought out a lot of beautiful fruitinss and turned this into one of my favorite beers. I really must get a large amount of this to age... slowrunner77 (58), reno, USA

Pretty close to perfect actually. great mix of sweet malt and hops. lingering finish. i’d been looking forward to this one and it did not dissapoint. Better deal than the expensive 22’s as well!"

| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Nov 15, 2009 #20. Pours a very dark, opaque amber with a small beige head, more than you’d expect for this strong a beer. Smells of cinnamon, ginger, lemons, and that pre-rain smell. This is nice and hoppy, my type of beer. Offset well by sweet flavors of caramel, and also carries nice spiciness--like pumpkin pie--and citrus, very little alcohol taste. Finishes clean with just a touch of bitterness. Quite simply, awesome. bluesickboy (13), Michigan, USA

Pours a nice darker amber color with a nice off-white head. Aroma is very malty, hints of carmel and maybe fruit. Taste is very sweet and malty, with only a slightly alcohol taste left afterwards. Boooyeta.
