The nose is deep malt, earthy, hits of alcohol, hops and caramel, a great sniffing beer. Start is sweet, the top is medium to full, the finish hop laden ,dry, lightly acidic and the alcohol warms the tummy, a ’World Class’ barley Wine. After my first experience, with the repulsive Bigfoot, i have had nothing but good luck. Another great beer from Victory, fruity tastes and aromas of grapes and plums. Great mouthfeel, very thick. I should have got another. Jake Barnes (456), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

I need to get a case of this stuff! The aroma is amazing. Very fruity with hints of melon, peach, and berries. Just a touch of hops in the nose. Flavor: DEAR GOD this is smooth. Melon, peaches, strawberries, finished off by a dose of hops. Just amazing! Perhaps the most drinkable barlywine i've ever had. I need to have a taste off with Bells' 3rd Coast and 3F's Behemoth to determine the grand champ of the barleywines'. fuchebu (146), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA

It really surprised me at the balance of malt and hops in this ale. The alcohol is apparent, but not at all obtrusive. Sweet at first, but the hops pull through like a champ. Caramel notes that give way to raisins and plums. Really nice mouthfeel, which is important to me when it comes to barleywine. A must try.. Dickinsonbeer (3494), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA

I also remember noticing the alcohol last year- but there is very little alcohol at the beginning- when it warms it becomes present but it is still slight. Since DFH WWS 23% any amount of alcohol in a beer is going to taste muted. Still the best barleywine I’ve had so far.
Color is deep amber. Almost no head. Smell was sweet and citrusy. Taste was extremely complex and changed after warming up. I first noticed a very sweet almost molasses-like taste witha nice toasty maltiness with mild hop taste. As it warmed there was plum and other caramel-like malt flavors with increasing hoppiness. I went directly to bed and passed out after having one of these at the end of a night fillled with drinking good beers at the local pub. dirkules (613), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

So smooth on the palate with alcohol, that you don’t even notice until you are almost finished drinking! Victory does it again!
