In corsendonk tulip glass, the beer is a dark brown-red liquid with very little to no head, even when agitated. Aroma is of sweet apple orchard, supressed alcohol, fruit mix. Flavor is of roasted grains (barley?), sweet fruits, and ends very hoppy, very dry. Mouthfeel is initially very tingly from carbonation, but then is very smooth going down. With time, this beer may get better and better. Sampled slightly chilled, and as it warms. lilannie (383), State College, Pennsylvania, USA

Appearance: Red-Orange, cloudy, thick, and syrupy.
Flavor: Thick, sweet, syrupy, slight honey taste, slight bitter aftertaste, and slight taste of chocolate malts.
Palate: Tingly on tongue, thick--coats the throat, almost like a cough syrup.
Overall: Probably the best barleywine I've ever tried. Would get another! run20six2 (119), USA

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 22, 2004 Had to let this one sit for a while to give it a proper rating. 11/03 bottle. Heavy sidiment in the bottle. Pours out a nice reddish hued brown with a nicely carbonated head. It has a hoppy aroma but is not over the top. It has a very complex flavor of malt and hops with some notes of alcohol. Goes down like a mature scotch and tastes just about as good! awesome brew. If you treid it when it was brewed, and didn’t like it, do let it sit a year. beermaniac (86), Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 25, 2004 Aroma: Citrusy, hoppy with a sweetish malty aroma, fruity esters resembling orange kept me coming back for more. I also picked out pale malts in all of this very complex aroma. Some caramel notes. Some alcohol in the nose as it warms.
Appearance: Reddish gold color, clarity good, small head.
Flavor: Citrusy flavors backed up by the sweet malt, and also the orange fruity flavor is present in the taste. Chewy pale malt flavor is awesome.
Mouthfeel: Thick mouthfeel with some alcohol burn but for the most part it is smooth and silky in the mouth. Carbonation is just right for style.
Overall: Excellent sipping beer, drinks like a meal!! Awesome!!

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 27, 2005 2003 Bottle. Pours an opaque burnt orange body with minimal tan head. Aroma is very nice....cascade hops, lotsa sweet malts, with strong alcohol presence. Taste is even better, an Intense blast of sweet malts, hop bitterness, and some alcohol to boot. As it warms, you sense the great tasting malt backbone a bit more. Finishes with a pleasantly warming alcohol burn. It’s easy to see why this is on everyones "favorites" list. jon112981 (327), Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA
